Looks like we may have two new 250’s hit the market. Ducati maybe this summer, maybe Beta in the fall.
With the Ducati valve train, high rev capability might be a new fast 250. My guess the Beta will be about ride ability, but who knows it’s new motor design.
I’m up on which Jap 250 will be new. I think 450 Yamaha was new last year so 250YZF might be new in 2027.
I don’t even try to keep up with Austrian bikes, maybe something new 2027 and 1/2.
My gut says Ducati and Beta 250’s will make a splash from what little I’ve read.
Comments please.
Kawasaki 2-stroke.
Pretty sure we’ll see donkeys fly before we see a 2 stroke green bike.
I don’t think Beta will make a splash. This foray into SX/MX doesnt seem like a success yet. I don’t see anyone at the tracks riding the 450.
The Ducati will make news because of the brand name and hype around the engine.
I’ll take that bet.

In the 250F class, power is very important, I don't see the Beta 250F being in the same range as the other top brands but I hope I am wrong, Triumph seems to be competitive in their first year, although have had some reliability issues. The mainstream brands all have had years of development and improvements in overall power, delivery and durability over the last few years. The new sound requirements are going to most likely have more of an effect on the 250 class bikes than the 450s. It should be interesting to see what happens
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a 450 RX at the track either. With the new 4 stroke Beta 250 RX being new engine design/lessons learned from what not to do from 450 RX. It will be quite a bit different. I bet the 450 RX will change engine design to match 250 the following year.
I’m not going to say the 450 RX was a flop but I’m a Beta fan and won’t own one unless I got a super screamin deal.
I get what you're saying because they haven't said shit since the announcement, but it's been delayed for a reason. It wouldn't make any sense for them to release a bike to the public that is not ready.
If they did that, they would then need to put out a number of recalls costing them not a only a lot more money but they'd take an even bigger hit to their reputation than they have already.
Also, I know you asked for which 250F would make the biggest splash, but I don't think any of them will make as big of an impact as the Kawasaki 2-stroke.
I've seen a couple rx 450's around here at the tracks. Seen some rx300's too.
But isn't it rumored to be a 300?
I don’t know how much you can learn from a different motor and design in a 450 and transfer that into 250 development.
My only comment would be might learn what not to do.
This is kinda interesting blurb on the new Beta 250.

Maybe KTM comes in with the spring forks from the XC models and frame comfort similar to the 2022?
Looking at the new Beta 250 engine and comparing to other manufacturers, can’t tell if they copied or came up with new on their own. I wouldn’t figure much room for new, lots of designs tried over the years.
Just my guess but I’d think all Beta needs is a motor. Using my 300 RX as example, stable frame that turns with good suspension. All I did was swap to heavier rear spring and it’s good to go. It’s the best bike in my garage. Even the tests on the 450 RX comment on straight line stability and decent turning. The quirks with the motor and out of balance suspension is the big knock on the 450 RX best I can tell. Glad I didn’t buy a 450 RX.
A couple more 250’s in shootouts will make for good reading if nothing else!
I'm most excited for the YZF. I liked the 23-25 chassis on the 450, not as big of a fan on the 250f. So I'll be interested how the '26 450 chassis changes carry over to the 250F. Also, it's supposedly getting a new engine, which it's been running since '21 aside from intake and timing chain changes (and mapping.) So that all should be good but I also expect the bike to be quite a bit quieter, like the '26 450. So that's where it could be a bit of a let-down, if the power drops. And it's not exactly a cheap fix to get it back.
So that and the Ducati are the 2 that I am waiting on. I almost feel like the Ducati engine design should absolutely rip, as a 250f. So I'd like to see what everyone says about how that thing revs.
2027 will be a fun year for moto. We will possibly see big changes from Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki and KTM.
Lots of people add dual fuel injector mod to their YZ 250F any chance Yamaha would add it to stock 27?
Pit Row
I'd love to see suzuki get it together and release a banger like they did in 07.
Yeah I am right there with you. I have a dual injector on my current one and I was wondering the same thing, if they would add it. I guess the only potential problem I could see is with the restriction and baffling, if it would really do much. As I have intake mods to go along with my kit, as well as an exhaust. So I just assume it would want to pull/feed as much air as possible and it would be a pretty corked up stock bike (in theory.) I guess we will see.
