Mitch Payton really need to up his game. Start signing the best Europeans again together with the great US prospects. If that means he need to sign them younger, so be it. If that means he needs to pay them a higher base salary, than make it work!

He should sign Kay de Wolf after this season. Look towards Valin, Adamo, McLellan, ...

Everyone said that about Vialle too, but ended up winning at SX first oddly enough.

Also the Supercross Futures thing is a scam.  Half of those kids should be going pro at 16 or 17 in the lites class. I think it’s only going to encourage 25+ year old to stay in 250 and not move to 450.  The proof is sitting in front of our faces, Deegan couldn’t podium or win a Futures race but competed pro next weekend and got top 5.  Also Kayden Minear raced pro motocross last year and ran inside the top 10 the entire race until last lap.  Look at that Caden Dudney kid.  He’s getting the learning lessons out of the way now, and getting PAID.  That is much better than 5 races a year for SMX Next (aka Supercross Futures) no pay, no championship, no glory.

In Europe they can race weekly at high level on very different tracks this going from, off course the EMX250 series itself to the Dutch Masters of Motocross, ADAC Youngsters and FFM Elite MX & SX.

With a good team and a riders coach it would develop these kids more than wasting time on LL qualifiers, Spring National, Mini O's, ...

Imagine Wyatt Thurman with Harry and Stefan Everts as coaches, like they did with Jett Lawrence...

Good ideas

Romano only has a total of 2 top 10 SX finishes on a Star bike in his career.  Why bother?  There has to be a deserving privateer somewhere struggling from week to week that deserves a break.

How about we give the opportunity to guys who deserve it instead of “second chance” riders?  I love Nick Romano but he had his chance, this is the reason guys like Temmerman and Fedortsov are NOT racing !  It’s a CRIME that the Loretta Lynn’s champion Enzo Temmerman is basically begging for a ride.

Romano just turned 21, it's not like he's coming out of retirement. Temmerman and Fedortsov are both hurt I believe and only a year or two younger. Doubt either of them want to ride for what Romano is probably getting paid either.

Well shit idk why but I thought Romano was like 25 by now.  My bad

I swear I heard Daniel Blair say “they believe in their son, they are going to race on their own if he doesn’t have a team behind him” before this Supercross season.

I saw Fedortsov shred at Pala last year.  The kid has massive potential in motocross .

I never heard that.  I’m out of the social media loop but I listen to Moto podcasts.  I have only heard his name brought up for not having a spot at PC Kawi.

He’s on the Drew Adams deal where he would fill in if a spot opened up, but yes he’s injured and will be out a long time.

Yaa i don’t do socials either, someone had posted the Temmerman crash here, it was a pretty gnarly. I think his names getting brought up because of guys like RyderD and Drew not having deals to take them into the pros with PC. Team green amateur kids having hard time rolling into PC is probably why guys like Dudney and Wood went over to Star. Mitch missed two with those guys.

I think Kay has been under that Husky team/team owner since he was an amateur in the EMX classes so I would think that probably weighed on Kay coming over here.

Another thing that is heavyweight are the team owner his pockets. He is an absolute fan of the sport, investing a lot of money into the team each year AND Dutch. There is no way he is letting Kay go easily

I absolutely agree with you , but Americans will never do it because they are ethnocentric to the max and basically scared of Europe.

Maybe if they brought some rounds of emx125 to the us it would spark some interest .

You know these top amateur kids get stipends from their teams that, in a lot of cases, are worth more than what they'd make if they raced EMX, right? It's financial, not "ethnocentric"...

Send the kids up to the Canadian nationals like Drew Adams did. Don’t have to travel to Europe either.

It has nothing to do with being ethnocentric or not looking far enough into the future. It's not 2005 anymore. To the extent that there's a path to a factory ride in the US, it's through futures and beating up on factory guys on the SX practice track. Lorettas results barely matter anymore and top prospects don't even take advantage of the racing opportunities they have here or in Canada. A 16 year old could go win EMX and the response from the factory teams would be OK come show us what you can do on our SX track. Nothing a guy might do in that class moves the needle. If anything maybe you could justify putting a top 16 or 17 year old prospect in mx2, but emx would be total waste of time and money.

Yup, and imo a top amateur kid should be able to run up front out there like Adams did. Good prep with the two 35 min motos and learning how to string two results together with less pressure imo. I’m pretty sure RV did one in 05 and DeanO did one in 09 on their amateur bikes. I think both of them may have one a moto too.

I think he wanted to get as much racing in as he could besides the handful of big amateur nationals that most of the kids do. He may have been 15 or just turned 16 too cuz he’s still pretty dang young.

Vincent Wey is coming over this year. I think it's great and more US amateurs should do it. It used to be a regular thing with Team Green riders back in the day.

The 250 class is a Pro-Am class so B riders can race it as well. IMO, it's better than racing a few amateur nationals spread out throughout the year. If SMX Next had them race more than 2-3 outdoor national that would be a different story.

I said it before, but if they can't win up here, they have a lot more work to do.
