Only $10 for all 2026 SX, MX, and SMX series.
Romano only has a total of 2 top 10 SX finishes on a Star bike in his career. Why bother? There has to be a deserving privateer somewhere struggling from week to week that deserves a break.
"We can work work with speed"
The struggling privateer argument just does not hold water. There are a few examples of struggling guys on smaller teams that made it to the factory level, but at the highest level the ability to go that fast is just rare and it's not because they are pitting out of a van.
Odd signing.
Cool. Glad he’s getting another shot. Funny personality and has had some bad luck.

Pay to race? Like F1
His grandmother Marie visited Mitch. Brought cookies and told him "Nick is a great little boy".
Adams is set to be out for only two or three races, so it could potentially be for just a couple of races.
What privateer would you suggest in his place that doesn't have a ride? Also Romano has been riding a Kawi already for months on SX.
I've been seeing him practice saying he was waiting for the call up, I hope he makes the best of the opportunity.
His supercross results aren’t really there, mostly because he’s always riding injured, but he’s shown flashes of elite speed in moto. Unadilla 2022 comes to mind
LETSS GOOO NICK
Team is big enough that they never have full roster, always someone out hurt. Might as well put someone on the bike that probably costs very little and might catch lightning in a bottle.
Any privateer good enough to be considered usually has enough in place that it's not worth it or possible to break all the contracts.
Some personal sponsor who still believes in this kid and has thrown some money to Mitch for a 3 races. But did anyone ever did good in such "Do or Die" races?
Mitch Payton really need to up his game. Start signing the best Europeans again together with the great US prospects. If that means he need to sign them younger, so be it. If that means he needs to pay them a higher base salary, than make it work!
He should sign Kay de Wolf after this season. Look towards Valin, Adamo, McLellan, ...
Idk why he never figured this out. Sign them sooner and pay them more than anyone. Mitch hit the lotto and I didn’t know about it?
Pretty sure Macadoo and Kitchen are two of the highest paid 250 riders.

Weird instagram post is down, racerx article is down!?
He was interested in de wolf. Maybe the asking price was excessive? I'm not sure.
Can Längenfelder ride SX? If he wins the MX2 title again this year he’ll be forced up unless he comes over to the states. Mitch needs to do something different, Simon would be a title contender outdoors at minimum.
I think Kay has been under that Husky team/team owner since he was an amateur in the EMX classes so I would think that probably weighed on Kay coming over here.
I wonder if KTM has a first right of refusal with him. The coenens are a package deal, yard sale crashes from sasha or not. Could mean a guy like Simon might be available.
How about we give the opportunity to guys who deserve it instead of “second chance” riders? I love Nick Romano but he had his chance, this is the reason guys like Temmerman and Fedortsov are NOT racing ! It’s a CRIME that the Loretta Lynn’s champion Enzo Temmerman is basically begging for a ride.
Also the Supercross Futures thing is a scam. Half of those kids should be going pro at 16 or 17 in the lites class. I think it’s only going to encourage 25+ year old to stay in 250 and not move to 450. The proof is sitting in front of our faces, Deegan couldn’t podium or win a Futures race but competed pro next weekend and got top 5. Also Kayden Minear raced pro motocross last year and ran inside the top 10 the entire race until last lap. Look at that Caden Dudney kid. He’s getting the learning lessons out of the way now, and getting PAID. That is much better than 5 races a year for SMX Next (aka Supercross Futures) no pay, no championship, no glory.
With the pro age going to 18, I hope that programs such as Team Green, Orange Brigade, Star Yamaha, ... send their young prospects to the EMX250 series.
In Europe they can race weekly at high level on very different tracks this going from, off course the EMX250 series itself to the Dutch Masters of Motocross, ADAC Youngsters and FFM Elite MX & SX.
With a good team and a riders coach it would develop these kids more than wasting time on LL qualifiers, Spring National, Mini O's, ...
Imagine Wyatt Thurman with Harry and Stefan Everts as coaches, like they did with Jett Lawrence...
Romano just turned 21, it's not like he's coming out of retirement. Temmerman and Fedortsov are both hurt I believe and only a year or two younger. Doubt either of them want to ride for what Romano is probably getting paid either.
Zero chance this happens. Much cheaper and more beneficial for what teams want out of them to have them just keep turning laps on facility SX track.
Pretty sure Temmerman broke his femur a few months back or he would probably be the one filling in. Is he back on a bike?
Fedortsov was on decent equipment and didn’t show much, plus sounded like his family figured the options given to him weren’t worthy of him…
