You didn't actually loose unless you sold.
Hmmmm...glass 1/2 empty, eh?
How much did you make on the way to 50,000?
What was your acct worth 2 years ago...?
When something seems like it's probably peaked, do you sell it and get something else for growth?
Anyhoooo...I know a guy...and a fellow Vital member/Media-Photo-Film Bad Ass...so that's 2 guys...that recently got offered 20 times what they paid for a parcel in 2021.Thank goodness for those fugly Solar Farms. They're selling.
So, I'm gonna say the glass is 1/2 full.
🤣
Well I suppose we all know how much was in retirement now, presumably around 600k. That's a pretty good problem to have, because the median retirement account for 65-74yo's is about $200k, meaning half the population has more and half has less.
There's a new solar farm they want to install next to Prairie City SVRA, which is the park where they host Hangtown. There's a decent chance they would eventually close if that solar farm were allowed. That's the way it always goes, move close to a kart track and start complaining, then the track is gone a few years down the road. Same thing happens with airports, R/C flying fields, moto tracks, etc. etc. Inevitable I guess. Everyone thinks they should be able to make their own noise without having to hear the noise of others. #bringbackcivics
But, the OP's complaint is valid regardless of their personal situation, because people need to retire everyday and we should be conservative (i.e. supporting fiscally stable practices in favor of greed-driven volatility) when it comes to the economic security of the nation.
It was pretty funny when the "I did that!" Biden stickers were popping up at gas stations, but gas has gone up 50 cents in one week here. Not a lot of noise about it now for some reason.. Bad when your guy does it, but "..so anyways..." when my guy does it. Lotta dishonesty from the masses these days.

YTD last week was up about 63k, haven’t looked this week. I’ve been very fortunate since I retired. Not worried, the market always comes back around.
Speaking about solar this is about 20 miles from me
Mail just came, this accounts rockin 😀
It’s an account I closed. So somehow I made 1 cent on an account I closed, so they charged me 1 cent to process it, mail me out a paper statement etc. And these are the people who are supposed to be smart with money… The account we moved it into has been doing good
Ive been in Fidelities safest strategy for a month now.
My future S.S. earrings " jeopardized" would be the ball buster
Don’t spend it all in one place…
Like most folks my portfolio becomes more conservative over time. So while I miss a bit on the uptick, there’s less impact when things turn south. I’m ~5 years from retirement and that sweet SS check + 401k distros. Now let’s tidy up this Iranian predicament and get things back on course.
That is funny and sad at the same time…😆
This is gonna get the topic at hand way off the rails - but fuck these Yankees and their "SAVE FORT MILL" bumper stickers. They have singlehandedly destroyed Fort Mill, Tega Cay, Indian Land, Lancaster County, all the small towns on my NC side, over ran the school system, the local roads, million of acres of farm land, got their hands on local government just to rezone family land, and more. The absolute LACK OF SELF REFLECTION or empathy these people possess is alarming. The very people protesting to "SAVE FORT MILL" are the EXACT ONES who have run it full speed down the shitter the last 20 years. Fuck them. I wouldn't put it past some idiot resident to have spilled something, just to say "Look what SilFab did!!". Rant over - but I may comeback to it, I've had it with these idiots. Sincerely, fuck them.
2022 in Illinois:
Damn, if Spurdo is this “up to speed” on the matter…and, damn, I’ve seen this in California since I was a kid…
Fuck Them.
From our retirement investment group
This week's topics are:
Macro Strategy - Portfolio Construction in the Age of Industrial Geopolitics: Rising geopolitical tensions are driving a broader era of “industrial geopolitics,” where defense investing extends beyond weapons to strategic control of resources, technology, digital infrastructure, and industrial capacity tied to national security.
Market View - The Stagflation Scenario: The recent geopolitical flare up raises stagflation risks worth monitoring, but stronger U.S. economic resilience and diversification should help investors navigate the uncertainty.
Thought of the Week - One Key Lesson of the War: The World Still Runs on Fossil Fuels:Prolonged conflict underscores that fossil fuels remain essential to global growth and supply chains, increasing downside risks to global growth and earnings the longer disruptions persist.
Interesting just popped up on our local news right now is showing the standard of retiring goal of $1 million is now up to $2.3 million and where you retire to greatly changes how long the money lasts.
Max years it lasts in 17 years.
As for fuel this is our current prices.
I usually don’t do this so close to home but with what’s going on when we came home from Daytona I filled up the RV 63 gallons at $255 at the Loves where I can get a truckers discount that’s usually around 30 - 50 cents a gallon.
Diesel right now
Our Local gas and I am expecting it to hit the $3.30 range soon here in York.
Not exactly my full retirement savings, but I have an older 401K that I rolled into a ‘fun’ account that I play with. About 6 months ago, I started using some AI filters to suggest purchases and it’s been working better than I expected. Nearly doubled over the past 6 months.

The suggestions have been mostly very good, but you definitely want to do at least a cursory amount of research on them. AI still makes a fair amount of mistakes but so far it’s been a good tool to use as a filter on which picks to take a look at.
This was one of the suggestions almost exactly 3 months ago, and I’m wishing that I’d have bought at least double what I actually did.
Diesel is almost 6 dollars a gallon in the PNW . I paid 4.56 yesterday for regular gas.
Pit Row
Was $ 3.29
Dupage County IL.
That’s been about the average around my place over the last 3 years.
Hmm, let's see here... oh, yeah..Looks like the old 45 calibre retirement party for this guy, yeeesh...
I figure as long as you can muster at least $1000/mo from social security, you could live pretty nicely in Thailand or Veitnam or someplace like that. Maybe a ten to twenty minute walk to the beach, cheap and delicious food, friendly people, could do a lot worse.
That would be the lowest price in Washington State that I’ve personally seen 5 or 6 years, maybe longer. I’d be happy paying that price. What do normally pay in Ohio?
Didn't take a picture but at the Valero by my house diesel was $6.38 today. (plus 9/10th's of a cent of course.) Lets call it $6.39.
So for my camper that's about 54 cents a mile, or around $32.40 an hour @ 60 mph if you want to figure it that way. Looks like no road trip to Washougal this summer. Not in the camper anyway. Add in paying for campsites and its probably be cheaper to take the RAV4 at 38mpg on regular and stay in hotels and eat out every meal
Hopefully, fuel prices will be lower by the time Washougal rolls around.💯
Bought diesel yesterday at Sam’s Club. $3.49. I’m alright with that.
At what we paid and 9 MPG we are at 40 cents a mile towing the toad in the RV
Diesel at the Loves is $5.34 today.
Right now our retirement is Down another - $8,223.30 today.
