He had nothing to gain anyway, only to lose.

Of course KTM doesn't want him to come over here and ride. This way they can keep saying how well they are doing with the 350 OVER THERE.
What would happen if he came to the USA and gets waxed?

You do know that Short is riding the 350 in SX right? How does Cairoli's results affect what KTM claims?

Why would he want to come over here and ride SX? Its too great a risk of getting hurt. Plus, he hasn't ridden SX like the riders here have. Smart move to stay away.

If Short and Alessi don’t do well here, they can imply that it's the rider.
But if Alessi, Short AND KTM's top rider (Cairoli) ALL don’t do well here, it will highlight the bike as the common denominator.

Right now they can keep preaching that the 350 is doing great overseas.

It's strange that first KTM pushes him to ride and know hey says he can't ride because KTM doesn't want him to ride.

Maybe because they watched him on a supercross track?

It's not worth the embarrassment. They still want people in Europe to think he's the fastest rider in the world. It's about perception and money.

It takes 1000's of laps to be competitive in SX, and that starts when your 15-16 practicing for the 250 class, not when your 24? or so and an outdoor specialist. It would be like throwing a lamb into a pack of hungry wolves!

Cairoli is a genius outdoors but indoors we got better rides ... Roczen, Paulin, Musquin,...

O.o

An American who don't blame an European rider? It's strange... lol (just kiddig Smile )

P.S.: KTM push him to ride? WRONG. He wanna ride, KTM didn't want to.

Cairoli grew up in the 90s dreaming of being Jeremy Mcgrath, you can be sure he wanted to race SX his whole life. I'm guessing KTM on the other hand don't want their highest paid rider finishing anywhere other than on top of the box. He'll just have to wait till April 10th before he gets let loose. Outside that is.

I heard Ken De Dycker was doing some SX races? Haven't seen anything on it in a while. Anyone remember that interview? Seeing that behemoth go around a SX track would be all I could pay attention to.

I don't think that he did as good as he and KTM each thought he would do in France a month ago. Like someone previously mentioned though, he's better outdoors and that's all that matters in Europe. Stefan Everts came over in the 1990's and didn't do so hot either, I think he's telling Tony to not bother. Anyways, I'd rather see him do an outdoor national anyways.

I think it's the right thing to do. Cairoli did just some european sx like Bercy or Genova and they're not even comparable to the USA sx. You can't start doing real sx when you are 25.

Everts wasn't the best Supercross rider but he wasn't too bad also. He had a race he finished 5th i think and he could finish top 5-7 and in Bercy he was always fighting for a place on the box.

@Machine indeed and then I forget names like Herlings, Tixier, Tonus, Desalle and others.

PS: At the Grand Prix of Glen Helen there came a Youtube video I will search it up tomorrow and if i'm correct hey said that KTM and he wanted to compete in the AMA SX series but I can be wrong. And if you saw him riding at the Supercross in Milaan and Bercy that he better can't compete.

It doesn't take a genius to understand that Cairoli definitely wants to race supercross, but the guy is mindful, he doesn't do anything in a hurry.
I just think he's thinking about what's next in his career.
He tried Genova and Bercy with AMA SX in mind.
In Genova he sucked big time.
I was in Bercy and saw he sucked big time on friday, did a little better on saturday and did good on sunday. But definitely not good enough for an AMA SX.
He has pretty good overall speed and timing but has BIG problems with the whoops, he definitely can't ride on top of them. He did good on sunday because the whoops got rounded a bit by the end of the day and he found a way to double-double-triple them and that put himself on time with the fast guys.
He and the team already had plans to go training in US, so that could have been an opportunity to do a couple sx, but he uderstood he didn't had the speed.
A thing to remember is that he was SCARED at Bercy...

Anyway, the guy is tough and the way he's behaving tells it all... he WILL race in US, not in this year SX series (although I would still say "never say never"...), maybe not this year at all, but u can bet u will see him racing over there anytime soon.

Agreed... These guys over here now have been doing it for a pretty long time and have numerous tracks to practice on constantly so maybe it would just take him a while if he did want to do it..
