Wouldn’t t it be incredible if Pierce forfeited the win....

Golf (PGA) has this honor and integrity aspect to it....where players have to call a penalty on them selves if they break a rule....It would throw this whole red light thing into another dimension if he did that. It might force the AMA to go back to what the rules clearly state if he didn’t t except the win or at least look at the importance of integrity in competition.

I know if i were in his shoes I wouldn’t  feel good about winning that way....

It sucks for everyone who was on the podium.

  just a thought

Giving Joe the win just because he led the first 5 laps is odd, I know Pierce passed him on the red flag jump but there’s no guarantee Jo would have ran away in the lead. Giving up your first and only SX win because of something that wasn’t really your fault wouldn’t really be justified

I'm a fan of Pierce and it was cool to see him win. Really wish it would have been under different circumstances but he put himself in that position by jumping on the red lights. It was his fault for missing the lights and breaking the rules. The AMA can spin whatever bs they want, but Pierce, and others, jumped on the red lights. That is on him and him alone as a rider. Its their responsibility to be aware of hazards and hazard indicators on the track.

Pierce isn't going to relinquish the win, but he jumped on the red. He absolutely did something wrong....

Everyone is harping on the 250 thing where EVERY rider except Jo jumped. There was no Red Cross flag. However, three guys in the 450 class jumped on the Red Cross and didn’t get penalized. This place is really weird.

They all should be penalized..... the only exception should be the 450s if they were already committed when the flag came out. I haven't seen the video to determine one way or the other.

Did Honda give Jo the win bonus?

Given Joe’s comfort when leading, I doubt he was going to pass him.

We should award winners after 5 laps then

OR he could just come back next race and win again to confirm his win.

I love golf, but its about making thoughtful deliberate decisions, practically the opposite of racing.

I'm not gonna insult the thought, but he's got a lot of money coming his way after a full year of not racing. Honor wouldn't cross my mind much if I were in his shoes.

Sounds like Jo didn't know the rule, how is that Pierce's fault?

If he had morals he would... but instead he gonna live his days out knowing he lost and was handed a win because of a fixed race...

All that tells me is that you haven't read the rule. The rule from AMA is quoted below. The red cross flag and the flashing lights have the same meaning. AMA came up with some bs story about lead in lights to avoid handing out penalties and none of it is in the rule book.

White Flag with Red Cross or Red Flashing Lights
1. This flag or a red flashing light may be displayed at the beginning of a triple jump or a series of jumps to
indicate a potentially hazardous situation on or near the racetrack in an area that may not be clearly visible
to oncoming Riders.
2. This flag indicates a significant safety concern and takes precedence over all other flags.
3. Until the Rider is clear of the incident:
i. Riders must follow all directions given by race officials.
ii. Passing is prohibited.
iii. Riders must traverse all obstacles individually, absolutely NO double, triple, step on/off, etc.
iv. Riders must exercise extreme caution and not race or accelerate in an unsafe manner.
4. When displayed on a triple jump, the area of concern is, at minimum, the whole obstacle, i.e., Riders must
not jump any section of the triple because a Rider may be down on the face of the triple or after the first or
second jump, hidden from view and in a vulnerable position.
5. These rules apply anytime a Rider is on the racetrack, including sighting and cool down laps.
6. Penalties are defined in Section 3.1 Violations and Disciplinary Action. If Race Direction determines that
the violation was not blatant or takes place during a sighting or cool down lap, a warning or fine may be
issued.

Lights = potential issue (Flag can also be used for potential issue, the officials won't know the severity of an issue at the time they need to make a judgement. This rule gives them authority to err on the side of caution, waving cross flag, even if the issue turns out to not be serious)
Cross flag = significant issue

You'd think HRC would have someone that could read the rule book and reiterate to the riders?
