If my memory serves me right, Fox played an April Fools prank on RC and Bubba that weekend.  Bubba had an R/C patch and RC had a bubbalicious patch.  It was not RCs final race, as that took place in 2007 when factory Kawasaki had newly acquired a Monster Energy sponsorship.  The Kawasaki graphics and silver rims were still being ran in 2006.

I was there that day too. My first ever AMA pro race ever attended. Was indeed a big day for the Dist 36 guys. Big Bill in the pic too ! Hard to believe it was close to 50 years ago !

As for Maico wins, Denny Schwartz won a national in the early 80's.
