I got a text from someone watching the broadcast on tv and that the haze looked horrible. Yep the smoke lingered inside for most of the night.
Oh, I know what you're talking about going into watch qualifying yes, the fumes hit you like a ton of bricks. But you can't tell me all the smoke from those chinese fireworks in my picture doesn't help add to the toxic brew..... ☠️☠️😵💫🤢😵😵💫
Why they do not open the roof more is something I cannot comprehend.
Chase field opened the roof and never had these issues.
Yeah, the pyro definitely didnt help the situation. Does just opening the roof completely alleviate the issue? Since it's not totally open air I would think you'd still need some type of ventilation to help out. I would hope they weren't counting on that small roof opening to be adequate.
With enough complaints maybe after the third year of this BS they will get it correct.

Chase field also had the huge "bay doors" or whatever.. but chase field opens like a true outdoor stadium.

I've been saying this for years. If you're going to to Glendale, sit as low as you can.
Pure speculation, I think the stadium wasn't engineered to "vent." It is meant to hold air in, keep it circulating for the 6-7 months of hell we have. That stadium is used almost every weekend of the year for one thing or another. Especially in the summer.
Was there all day also. No issues here.
I may be wrong but I feel like this is their mindset-
Have you ever smoked in a car? If you roll the windows all the way down the smoke doesn't actually leave the car, it just sits there, but if you barely crack the back window and the front window it sucks the smoke right out. I feel like they think if the bay doors are open and the roof is cracked it forces the exhaust etc out. Obviously isn't working well but I wonder if that's what they're trying to do
Having been to both stadiums' multiple times for the SX show, I hope they send it back to downtown Phx. Being 21 rows up from the track Saturday I'm assuming help with not breathing in as much of the fumes, but still, there's no getting away from it. What's strange is walking around the concourse there were multiple corridors all around the venue leading outside that were closed off and guarded. Why not open those doors and create the cross ventilation, pretty simple solution.
The herded parking is expected but how they structure it takes the fun out of tailgating. Oddly, we were parked across from the handi-cap parking spots and most of the vehicles parked there were lifted 4X4's pick-ups. Another thing is why aren't they allowing access to the great yard, appears to me it'd be a much better place to hold Fanfest activities, as well as bathroom and access in general. Lastly, what is with credit card only purchasing? My conclusion, much different/better experience when held DT-Phx, but mostly it seems Arizona wants SX, Glendale doesn't.
was at the GT arenacross in Springfield over the weekend... muchh smaller venue than SX (like 6k seating), and lots of racing going on, smoker and 4 strokes... and OMG... I had to leave early because of the fumes/smoke.... got a raging headache and i was done...
btw... GT arenacross REALLYYYY needs proper medical staff..... we think the sx med crews are bad, but they are elite compared to gt arenacross.. LOL...
Is there an added fee (to be paid by the promoter) to open the roof?
I was on the floor for all of the second 450 qualifying session and it wasn't much better down there.
