Carlsbad and Saddleback provided incredible racing.  The us mx nationals need more diversity between tracks.  Hi point for the atv national looks perfect for a hard pack track.  Are they scared?

I agree, or just do not do a deep till and put up with a little dust.

Dry rip is the worst.  Hard pack blue grove. Today’s riders wouldn’t have a clue how to ride it.

You say that but I'd bet the would still be pretty damn fast on any surface they rode.

We don’t have a deep sand track or a hard pack track.

hangtown could be hard pack again, but it gets a lot of sand and chips through out the year, in part to keep the track nice for practice year round and avoid issue with local air resource board who get pissy if theres any dust. in addition, the area used to be surrounded by cattle land but a lots been sold off for housing

I agree, not a crime to race on natural dirt!

I feel like Hangtown has had some super exciting motos over the past few years due to being such an old school dusty hard-pack track.

If Unadilla did not rip so deep it would be better IMO….they have the typical upstate/ western NY hard base with some loam on top….I get the deep rip & overwater to prevent dust but it hinders the racing IMO…..flame on..IMG 3359 2

Nothing to flame.  That's garbage.

One thing I miss about the older races when there were still hard pack tracks was watching the guys use the entire track surface to get creative

You all want hard packed but the riders do not, they want rough and ruts to separate the talent. When you race locally, do you have a hard packed one line track as that's what it would be.

All of the national tracks are "between the 40s" today. He'll, they're really between the 45s. Need one blue groove and one deep sand.

Sx isn’t safe for the sx futures. Ruts are bad in outdoors. We should just race all the guys on computers.

If they just left Unadilla however it is right now until the National it would be very cool.  Track may suck, or might be awesome,  but would change it up nonetheless.

Honestly I loved when they left dilla to turn to grass and ran first session like that. But just like anything else money talks so they opened the track to make more money. Can’t be mad at them. I still don’t understand why every track owner/promoter doesn’t log into vital hourly and give the people who don’t ride a track they think they would enjoy. I mean sx races have ruts, what can possibly be next a muddy sx race? It’s so wild these people putting on their events and have the say so are trying to make money and please the actual riders. So dumb.

I've NEVER seen Hangtown not develop ruts.  A true hard pack track doesn't really develop ruts, MAYBE a few natural berms in a few turns, but zero ruts, especially on straights. It's been a LONG time since most riders have seen a true natural hard pack track.

Gatorback is hard packed except for the one small sand section. Especially in an absence of rain.
