[quote="DJ KC":f1ea6]Wasn't there a few C.H.I.P.'s TV shows filmed there?[/quote:f1ea6]
Remember the chase scene with Charles Bronson in "The Mechanic", where on guy rode off the cliff, and his bike crash and burned on impact?...

A lot of the Dukes of Hazard charger cars are stored right off the 14 at an exit into Santa Clarita/Newhall. You can see them as you drive by. They've been sitting there for years.
That housing project is supposed to swallow up everything from the 5 and hwy 126 south and west. All the way from Valencia up and over to Ventura/Simi Valley. It's a massive development project that's supposedly in the works. Housing for many thousands of people. That's going to be real good!! The 5 and 126 is a parking lot now! I don't know how those roads can accomodate thousands of more cars from that new development. It's going to be nuts!!

The only Dunes story I have; went there to watch a race in 78 me and a buddy tried to sneak in a bunch of guys I got caught with another friend they stuck us in a Paddy wagon (anybody remember that?)with a cage door took us to the front gate and let us out .I promply went to the same hole in the fence and snuck in.Then I got to wach a great duel between Donny Hansen and Greg Robertson on the orange Can-Am's.
I never raced there it was too far when saddleback and other tracks were close to home.

The Dunestown Gand Prix were always cool they would run you through barns and you even went through a shed as a faster option then jump off the Dukes of Hazzard car jump over the river, they always had some of the Dukes ocars over behind Shadow Glen track, i loved the Dunes more than Saddleback, i always did better there to.

I think CMC used to (maybe still does) run a California racing series. I think it raced on the shadow glen track in 1979. I got the holeshot and about three turns later Broc Glover passed me on the outside WFO like I was a novice - very humbling. No, it was 1978 because I had a POS 125 zook that always blew up, which it promptly did in this race

remember how deep that river got after rains, it was almost unpassable. I spent most of my riding time at either Indian Dunes or Saddleback
CRC runs the Dunestown Series. I won that series as a novice in 1980. We raced at Saddleback, Carlsbad, Edwards AFB and the Dunes. One of the races was a Grand Prix.

Since the Dunes are long gone . . . you can still catch her as she was back in her glory days by checking out a view television episodes on Netflix. Here's some SPECIFIC episodes to catch if you want to see the most of the tracks, etc. as they stood back then.

CHiPs
The episode "Ride the Whirlwind" was shot almost entirely at Indian Dunes. The episode "Disaster Squad" shot a good sequence on what I think was the PeeWee Track.

Simon and Simon
A few quick shots of the International Track in the episode "Corpus Delecti" and you can see the Oval track in a background shot in the episode "Dark Side of the Street" as the actors stand atop Grapevine Mesa to the south

T.J. Hooker episode "A Cry for Help" has a nice aerial shot of the Speedway Track

The International Track can be seen in cockpit footage in Chuck Norris' "Good Guys Wear Black" film. Also, the "Octagon" was filmed inside a movie set that stood behind some trees next to the wash.

more . . .

Dukes of Hazzard's "Comrade Duke" has brief glimpses of some of the tracks in aerial shots and the classic, record breaking Pico Canyon wash jump is used in "Double Sting" and "The Great Hazzard Hijack".

Knight Rider episodes "Deadly Maneuvers", "Good Day at White Rock" film around the mesa and wash areas. In "Speed Demons" KITT drives all over the Shadow Glen tracks

Remington Steele episode "Steele Blue Yonder" has good shots of the airfield, if you liked that area and so does numerous episodes of Airwolf.

"Ba Ba Black Sheep" set & air strip was there and sometimes when you watch a fighter take off or land you can see racers on the Shadow Glen track. I never knew they had MX racers during WWII.

Always late to the party.  I literally grew up at Indian Dunes, I probably know most everyone posting on this sight.

There's four of us from the Dunes era that started an RM Fantasy group recently, one of them told me there was an Indian Dunes topic over here, so I checked it out.  1st time at the dunes for me was maybe 71, rode and raced there into the 80's, from 125 beginner to 500 pro.
