1979 Superbikers . . . Godspeed Steve
I always remember when Steve got among the Flat Trackers at the Houston Astrodome in 1982. Third at his first ( I think) try:

Somewhere I've got one of his signed Jerseys from when he rode for Moto X Fox - I worked at Competition Development ( the original CDs) in the 70s and early 80s - OZ's first Fox importer. I think it's in the (relatively) tiny Moto X Fox Gearbag, along with other original Moto X Fox clothing I wore, that's up high on some shelving / cupboards stuck behind some chassis / suspension and tubing. I'd need one of my Monkey like Grand Nephews to get to it now, as I'm far too un-maneuverable to get to that area nowadays.
I had the pleasure of meeting and talking with Steve at Red Bud back in the 80's up in the announcer's tower. Without a doubt he was one of the best racers to ever throw a leg over a motorcycle but his real passion was spreading the Word of Christ to those he enjoyed being around at the races. He gave me his card, which I still have to this day, and told me to feel free to call him anytime. He was a great man and he will be missed.
No! This is very sad to hear.
I was there that day on a 1987 Honda CR80.
Whatever happened to that old track? Wasn't the owner (Jeff I think?) a factory Honda guy at one time? That was the first track I ever raced on.
Are you serious? That is pretty unbelievable to say the least! I was definitely on a KX60, but I have to admit I was kind of guessing at the date.
Yes, the owner was Jeff Jones. The track shut down, but he still lives in the area. We are actually friends on Facebook. Small world!
Dude was a badazz thats for sure.
Loved watching Wide World of Sports when they had the Super bike races
Him and MaGoo going at it was great to watch
Wow, this brings back some memories. Being a kid i Sweden in the 90's, dreaming of Supercross and hearing of Steve's ministries, I wrote a letter to him asking if I could visit them. I don't recall the all the content, he responded kindly but I was not able to realize it. I always looked up to him though and I look forward to meet him in heaven one day. God bless you Steve for what you did in the moto community in US 😊🙏
Back when Steve's traveling schools were going strong, he had a good friend named Jan from Sweden that came over to visit in 1987/1988. He was a very good rider and nice fellow. I have some pictures somewhere.
I met him when I was a kid. I was on my 87 kx125 filling my tank up at a gas station about to go rip up and down the beach. He just walked up and introduced him self. He was surprised to see someone on dirt bike because it was in the keys. Super nice guy. He asked if I knew who he was . I told him yes I did but I really didn’t lol.
RIP Steve Wise 💔
Too young, too soon! Simply unbelievable.
Got a call that morning Steve had suffered a fatal heart attack. I lost a true friend, have been in disbelief until now.
I brought him over to Aus in '91 for 2 weeks. Will post pics later from my archive. Was a great mate, spent many hours on the phone in the wee hours.

Attended his services at the races in the late 90's-early 2000's. Was fortunate to spend some time with him at the Arlington round last year. He will be greatly missed.
