My dad used to be Randy Moodys practice mechanic/buddy and just rode his old bikes, and he was #401, then when my brother was born my dad just had my brother run 401, then when I was born he was gonna make me #400 but that would be to much like the Alessi brothers (800, 801 vs 400, 401). So my dad gave me the number 410, and I think it looks cool. 41 is also a good number and I also really like 10, so 410 is a good number, i'll only change it unless I earn a national number.

No, IF i earn a national number. I have alot of respect for anyone who earns a national number, championships aren't the only accomplishments that takes years of hard work and dedication.

here's my inspiration.

i mean, not only did the guy have sidekicks which is cool enough in itself...but they consisted of a fat dude named Wally and skinny ginger that had foursome's with twins.

no better role model for a 12 yr old grom imo

My dad was a pro flat track racer, his number was 121.

I run it in his memory. We spent every weekend at the racetrack -- usually two racetracks, actually, racing one place Saturday night and another Sunday -- when I was growing up, before he was killed in a plane crash.

Took me a while to get back to the track after that, but have been running 121 whenever I could since. (Got saddled with 365 for a pro number. Pissed me off.)

Also, like the symmetry and balance of those digits on a number plate.

Two quick asides... he ran a 6 as an amateur before turning pro -- as a Gary Nixon fan, he just turned that 9 upside down. When I got my first bike for Christmas one year, he put .6 on the plates. That's a decimal, then a 6, point 6.

That was pretty cool.

Finally, I don't really race any more, so I don't run any number. But when I got goaded into entering a vet class race a few months ago -- my first race since running the pit bike nationals back in '03 -- I slapped a single 6 on the front plate. Dad would've been glad to see that I can still win wire to wire (albeit, as long as the comp is also old and washed up). Wished he could've been there.

Good topic. Now, back to lurking.

I started on my first KX 80 that came with a 7 on it when my dad first bought it. The first couple races we went to it seemed everyone had #7. So I switched to 74 which was my number that I had been assigned while playing pop-warner football. I ran that for about 6 years and when I was getting ready to apply for a pro license, I knew I would have to go with three digits so the 3 went in front of 74 and I have been 374 ever since. Have had that number for 13 years now.

My brother was thirteen years older than me and bought me my first race bike a MR 50. He said OK your cousin is #22, what number do you want to be? I said #28, I have no idea why, I was 6 or 7 yrs old so no number had much meaning at that point. I have run it for 35 years now.

Picked 825 off a sheet of open numbers for 80 beginner because the number I wanted was taken, stuck with it since. I also now run 448 for my brother who passed away a year ago because it was his racing number.

I always liked #19 because of Spencer and John Kosinski ran it. Two bad dudes in their day.

Cool topic. I chose 179 like 12 or 13 years ago... God, I can't believe it's been that long ago. I was born on the 17th of 79. 17 79 = 179 in my book! haha 31 this Friday

When I was a kid my dad worked for the phone company and the first van number I can remember him having was 909. He passed away when I was 12, I run that number in his memory.

My screen name is ty159 for my son Tyler and the first number he chose was 159. I don't know why he chose that number for his first, but he did.

He now runs 11 because it's a 1-1 moto score and because he's a huge Yogi fan!!

507.......last 3 digits of my AMA # . AMA life member ,,,,not always proud of thatSmile Had this number since I was 16.

Did have National Number 92 in the early 70's. For MX they initialy issued Class C licenses. That was during the Trans AMA days........
