I bought my first direct from China part and it's actually pretty good. I didn't like how the OEM Yamaha sprocket guard didn't have a case saver and was wide open to throw stuff at the clutch pivot arm and seal. I looked at every major aftermarket company offering, but didn't see any that I liked. This version kept showing up in my searches and finally I clicked on the Alibaba link. There were several US English reviews so I figured I'd try it out. Was getting nervous because I got an email that said out for delivery 4 days before it finally showed up, but it seems like a pretty solid guard. Anyone else tried ordering directly from China?

I’ve bought some stuff that won’t kill me if it breaks for my mountain bike, it has all been decent. I actually bought a dropper post that I like more than my oneup.
Beware though that the metals they use are much weaker than what most companies here use. For instance I would never in my life trust a set of foot pegs from Alibaba or Aliexpress.
How much was it?
Looks burly.
Billet , or a cleaned up casting ?
Fitment and quality is not as certain as buying from a US company, I've had issues about 10% of the time.
I've found that buying from a seller with real photos is usually better than a seller with stock/edited photos. Sometimes you can buy directly from the manufacturer that's supplying US based companies with their products.
There are some Chinese brands that have emerged, NiceCNC and KKE Wheels make good budget products.
I usually use ebay rather than Aliexpress because ebay has better protection for the buyer.
On the other hand, with auto parts direct from China, I've had a problem almost every time.

DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
Billet or cast? Its metal and appears to be more rock protection than stock.
I’m still resisting buying direct from China, but I have to admit that the price of some of the nicecnc stuff is really, really tempting.

I think billet because I don't see and air pits or rough texture anywhere.
$24 shipped, on Amazon they run $50-$60
A lot of people will say parts are shit just because they're from China, but there's plenty of examples where they're great value for money.
It's a matter of assessing each part on its individual merits, and avoiding dodgy websites.
I wouldn't go there for critical parts though.
And every single large distributor source the majority of their private label products from there, from the same factories.
Yeah, the problem with quality is not the country it self, the problem is when you choose to buy cheap stuff from them.
And these distributors also buy the cheap stuff in many cases 😅
It passed the 'it fits' test , that is all.
There are companies in China making proper stuff out of proper stuff, mine being one of them, but there are thousands making knock off and sub-standard bits that look like the thing , but arent.
Who supplies it , and at what price , are usually a good indication.
Maybe try a solid American company like Enduro Engineering next time?
People get burned all the time in the marine industry and have to buy parts twice because the ones they bought don't fit or they only last less than a year. A lot of buyers remorse from China and Amazon.
Its a major problem where the OEM's are charging wayyyyy high prices for parts and the knock off brands you are taking a gamble and us, the consumer, stuck in the middle.
Maybe if they made one I would have...
oh sorry didn't know that
I bought a set of pegs for my DRz400... REALLY amazing. Solid as a rock, I think about $17.00 with delivery! No, I'd never put 'em on a motocross bike, but, DRz SM, on the street, rarely stand up on the thing. Sure you'll buy the same pegs on Amazon, as thousands of sellers there are just dropshipping through Amazon, loading on $$$, or buying bucket loads of cheap shit from Alibaba and putting it on Amazon. Easy business, but, not always giving any consideration for quality.
