I'm searching for the coverage of the MXDN at Namur in 2001 so if anyone can upload that I would be very thankful! Other movies from the oldskool days at the Citadel of Namur are welcome too!

It is very pity that the Grand Prix of Namur isn't there anymore :-(
There is a facebook group: "We want again a GP motocross on the citadel of Namur!"

Maybe it is time for a powerful signal!

MXMattii (you are on the mxworld forum too right?), I'm 95% sure I have that race on VHS tape.

Unfortunately, I am not able to convert it onto a dvd or my macbook and I do not want to lose any of my old VHS tapes on which I recorded almost all motocross races shown on Dutch and Belgian television since 1996 through 2004.

Wish I could you help you out..

Great race though!

It was "Carla" in 88 that did the beerstop outside the chalet at Namur, Everts tried to do it years later but it just wasn`t the same.

Yeah, didn't he have an iced tea? Everts was the man, but that was almost as gay as his rave single.....

2001 the year Team USA pulled out claiming security issues and they felt vunerable to Terrorist threats after 9/11.
Somehow I think Team USA would have been a long way down Osama Bin Laden's hit list!

its funny how they do that every time the nations is held at a track they know they wont win at! (ie lierop in 04, namur in 01) i wonder what excuse they will come up with to not go to lommel in 2012!
i bet they wish theyd thought of a decent excuse at foxhills in 98 aswell!

There was no excuse, just lack of interest.
Nobody wanted to go except RC.
But Carnichael was in the middle of switching teams from Honda to Suzuki and DeCoster wanted to test and stuff.

Yet was able to race the US Open just after the MXDN... USA knew they couldnt win at Lierop when Windham pulled out of the team because he didn't like sand....(not that they would have won anyway against Smets, Everts and Ramon)

Lets hope they come to Lommel(not quite as bad as Lierop), Belgium's team won't be as strong as 04, the other countries won't have three good riders... so they might have a chance as a team.... But Europe would smoke them Wink

Anyone remember Everts riding a 500 round Namur on a one -off - he anialated everyone, it was an incredible track but wasn't much room for passing.... kind of like the monaco of MX.

I had that race on VHS but damn it I don't know what happened to it. De reuver was flying on the KTM 250 2 stroke. At one point while chasing Everts the commentator said he shaved 5 seconds off of Everts' lead in one lap, but then he ended up going down. Was a brutal track.

namur is a track that needs to be ridden with care- you cant attack it flat out, they would both struggle but i think someone like widham would be great there

All the amazing tracks in Europe and they are choosing Lommel for MXDN this year?

Worst spectator track I have ever been to, plus it's as flat as a board and in the middle of an industrial park.

You literally go to the track, stand in the infield and watch the race on a giant jumbotron because you cannot see even a peek of the actual track.

Bring back the Citadel!!!!
That I would jump a flight for.
