Any Honda Ridgeline Owners?

Looking to replace my truck and seriously looking at a Ridgeline. The thing I like is all wheel drive, size, gas mileage, and mainly a comfortable ride compared to a regular truck. I know that some don’t consider it to be a real truck, but I’ll be retiring in 6mos and I just want something that is reliable and rides nice. Just wanted to get opinions from other owners.

This has intrigued me as well. I did see a new Toyota truck looking thing somewhere that was based to compete with the ford maverick that I need to look into further too.

I had the old body style ridgeline and loved it, typical Honda with zero problems and really liked the huge trunk under the bed. Have been seeing the new bodystyle around and they are a nice looking, and would defiantly consider buying another one in the future.

If you can find a clean version of the older truck, get it. The new current generation are excellent - but the added complexity of keyless access, ZF 9 speed transmission, direct fuel injection, and capless fuel filler has maken them slightly less reliable. I'd still take a current Ridgeline over ANY Dodge, Chevy, or even a Tacoma. I think the Tacoma is over priced, rides like a wagon, and is lacking leg room for anyone 6 foot or taller.

I had one for years when I was in NH.  It was freaking great. Good in the snow, could carry plywood when I didn’t want to bring the big truck, and just did everything well.  Rides great and had plenty of room.  I’m 6’4”.

Pulling this one back from the dead…..

Can you get a bike in sideways and get the tailgate closed?

Yes. I usually left the tailgate down since I had 2 bikes. It’s been a while, so I can’t remember if it was a tight fit. Maybe look for a picture of one in the bed and see how it looks to you.

What I found was the bed is about 64"X50", so that would make it about 82" and some change diagonally.

It’s a Honda and I’ve heard nothing but good things from the owners.

As for mlg, there’s no getting past a Maverick on that front.

For my daily rig, I was looking at mid-size rigs…but…went with the F150 Hybrid. It’s averaging around 22-23 mpg and can tow like a 2500. The fact that puts out energy like a Honda generator is kinda nice, too (7200 watts/1 30 amp 240 outlet + 40 amps/4 110 outlets). I get better mlg than most mid-sizes & have over 700 mile range, don’t need a generator for my pits in Baja…I’m stoked. But, that’s me. It’s a 4x4 crew that can carry 6 people if needed…part of the “Baja Preparedness” mentality 🤣

Other great lil truck# for the money (great offers/pricing/financing):

Ford Ranger (2.3T)…beware The Raptor…they’re addicting! Nicest mid-size, by far! 🤣

Nissan Frontier

I’ve had the Colorado and you’ll notice I’m not suggesting it..it doesn’t suck, but, not the greatest value and I’ve had issues with GM -not- standing behind their product…namely…transmissions.

I have some Baja friends that have Gladiators and they love them; but, that might be “A Jeep Thing!”🤓

You can put your bike on a  Switch Hauler and keep the tailgate closed, no need to worry about it! 😁

I’ve had my Ridgeline for about two years now and I’m pretty happy with it. I had full size trucks in the past, but I don’t have the need for one now. I get 18-20mpg in town and 24-25 hwy. I like the all wheel drive and the trunk in the bed is almost big enough to put a body in. I’ve driven it on a couple of 9hr trips and it’s been pretty comfortable. The one thing that I don’t care for is the radio. I already knew this from my research though. One of the main reasons I bought it was that I was retiring and I wanted something that was reliable and would last. I talked to a guy a month ago that had the older body style with 240K miles and no problems.

Funny you should mention the radio. I have a F-150 with SYNC (everyone hated SYNC) Anyway, the other day i received an email from my local Ford dealer letting me know I'm due for a service since my truck has XXX,XXX # of miles. And it was withing a couple hundred miles of the actual mileage. Now I'm wondering if when my phone synch's with the radio it sends data back to Ford? Not happy about that! But maybe they are just averaging my miles per month and guessed?

I've had two Ridgelines, one of each generation. Granting that it is not a real truck in towing or off-road capability, you will not find a more reliable and comfortable product that will carry a bike.

Not particularly cool but I preferred it over my tacos and F150 as a daily by a mile - ride is vastly superior.

I would assume it does. My Ridgeline syncs with the app on my phone and keeps track of maintenance items.

Depending on the year it doesn’t necessarily even need your phone.  With our truck fleet we no longer need to install GPS in any of the vehicles. They all come stock with telemetry that reports back to the manufacturer, leasing company, etc.  I can unfortunately see where all our trucks are at any moment, how fast they are going, how hard they are braking, engine run time.  It’s terrifying.  And it’s in almost all new vehicles from what we are told.

Also had both body styles.  And agree they are amazing vehicles.

No dice getting my YZ250 in with the tailgate up.

Super happy with this truck none the less.   It’s perfect for what I do and more comfortable than I could ever ask for.

I hope to get hundreds of thousands of miles out of this rig.

In 2017 while looking at Trucks at a car show, I looked at the Ridgeline. I found out that it was based on the Pilot unibody platform. Also the rear seat footwell is very small.

Rear seat isnt the roomiest, but better than a 4 door Tacoma. And if I'm being honest, no truck is as roomy as a 4 door F150 - Ford did their homework there.

All I'm going to say. A Honda Ridgeline is NOT a truck. If you want a truck, buy a real truck. 1500 pickup at minimum with a standard box.

It's a vehicle that you can put your dirt bike in and go out riding with your buddies. Call it whatever you like.
