I saw this floated a year or 2 ago, bizarre to be sure.

Fans will not be able to watch the elevated portion?

The article mentioned DRS zones. Well, that isn't happening.

No grandstands. No idea how that's going to work out.

They better have some serious safety measures in place for that cantilevered section. If you flip over, you're done. No one survives a 20 story drop.

"DRS is being eliminated, but it won't change the course design."

Not suggesting tracks will change, I just thought it was funny that this article was supposedly written Dec. 1, and we've known for quite sometime that DRS was going away.

They mention DRS zones like they're still a thing.

The 4 seconds a lap slower estimate with the new cars might not be that far off afterall.

I finally got the time to watch F1 The Movie. Only the first hour but not sure if I can finish it. The racing might not be absolutely realistic, but it’s been very decent for a movie. The unrealistic part is when they portrayed Stroll as fighting hard for a point. I’m not sure I can overlook that sort of fantasyland type of thing.

Well, I guess I can put up with it since he actually didn’t score the point.

He's fought his entire career for points, and gotten more than you'd think.

I haven't seen the movie, so I don't have any context, I guess.

I hope you all have Apple TV as they have the broadcasting rights in the USA for the next 4 (maybe 5) years.

Well kiss my goat smelling ass!

I don't want another subscription, particularly one with a partially eaten fruit.

I may become a late highlight guy.

Yeah, I just found this out yesterday.

Apple, the tree hugging, wanting to be carbon neutral by 2035 company. Can you say hypocritical because F1 is far from carbon neutrality.

I have Apple TV…and it’s still Fucked Up that they did this. Fuck.

I’m sorry, but, the folks that run F1 are a bunch of cunts.

F1 is on course to be net-zero Carbon emissions by 2030. Hate to burst a bubble for you there but that’s maybe not the best way to go after Apple in this context.

Unfortunately money talks especially in F1, that’s why we have so many shithouse tracks and so much Saudi/Arab influence in the sport for even more shithouse tracks in shithouse parts of the world. Apple bid highest and FOM/FIA don’t give a toss about making it more accessible for fans. It’s that simple.

"Christian Horner set to buy 24% of the Alpine F1 Team

According to AMuS, the former Red Bull team boss has assembled an investor consortium to purchase a significant stake, reportedly 24%, in the struggling team, with a deal valued at around $763 million.

Horner is said to want major decision-making power, not just a team principal role. Alpine, last in the 2025 constructors’ standings, is entering a new era with Mercedes engines and major 2026 rule changes.

If the deal goes through, Horner’s arrival would likely lead to major management changes, with Flavio Briatore’s future at the team uncertain."

This guy's got some bad data. "Nearly 300 million iPhone users in the USA". Not even close. According to a basic AI mode search from Google, "Total Users: Roughly 155 million Americans use iPhones, compared to approximately 100 million Android users. " I'm wondering a few things though...will Apple treat Android users like 2nd class citizens like they usually do? That'd be a bad move if they did...they'd be alienating a lot of people in the US, and potentially a lot more outside the US. (According to Google and several research sites,  Android has about 72% of global market share, whereas iOS has about 28% of global market share).

The other thing I'm wondering is will I have the same options I had with F1 TV. If the product is inferior to the previous offering, I don't see people wanting to stick with it.

As for the contract fee being "eye watering" at $750 million...Apple probably found that money between the cushions of Tim Cook's office chair. Pocket change to them. Apple has almost $55 billion in cash according to their last quarterly filing.

Fuck apple and the dog they rode in on.

20 or so years ago, the company I worked for decided to go all in on apple. Guess what? I was running Solidworks and MasterCam. Now Guess what platform couldn't handle those. Sure it worked kinda. I had to bring my own machine from home to get work done.

So when some patchouli smelling poop butt tells me how much better his IPhone is compared to mine, I just remember the days of manually repairing giant files of g code because of how great apple is.

OK, I guess I was talking out of my ass (not the first nor last time 😉) but I really had no idea that F1 was going full bore in this direction and I've followed the sport for years. I'm just curious on what type of fuel will the cars use? Something close to Indy car or something completely different? That was something I always found great about F1 is they ran petroleum gas and Indy ran ethanol. As I've always heard throughout my life though "the only constant is change".

Back on the subject. Not happy with this switch to Apple. Peacock for MX and now Apple for F1.

Good morning, my Texas brother from a different mother….

You nailed it.

All this Al Gore wannabe bullshit being spouted by the F1 Mega Yacht Owning Private Jet Set. Talk about the epitome of hypocrisy. Take the toxic chemical battery out. Take the rare earth magnet motor out. Put a fucking V8-12 in…

And Make Racing Amazing…

AGAIN.

Fuel is fully synthetic created petrol, supposedly aligned to E10 and useable in road cars… I think that bit is likely bollocks though, it may be synthetically manufactured but it will be to a higher octane and far more stable chemical base than you could put in at a petrol station because the ignition technologies used in F1 aren’t the same as a production engine by a long shot. If you’re interested, have a look and read-up on turbulent jet ignition, it’s pretty cool stuff from an efficiency standpoint.

Renewable energy running the factories, lots of Carbon offsetting (which is probably largely bullshit) etc etc. Rescedulimg things to teams aren’t in Saudi one week then Silverstone the next before going back to China etc.

I get it’s universally unpopular on an American board but it’s happening irrespective what you guys think of it as it’s a FIA initiative. Until someone else makes the rules, we have to play the game their way.

Dumb move on FIA to move the package to Apple TV. I do have it as I have the box the offer, but man from a perspective of getting eyeballs on the sport it seems idiotic.

The cars, I am absolutely ok with slower lap times as long as the drivers can race ones other snd actually follow without wrecking tires and overheating. More wheel to wheel back and forth racing is what’s needed. DRS zone going bye bye is a good thing. Wild Wild West of F1 for 2026
