they dont want him simple as that......he is too fickle, changes contracts every year, rides what he wants to ride, when he doesnt win he gets sick, etc etc......a pretty high maintenance rider without a lot of consistency in his program plus he wants bank...honda prolly got canard and grant for less than what reed wants.......he may pull out mid year and go car racing, if doesnt win he will throw in the towel and i dont expect him to win with a full field.....i dont think he will beat canard and grant this year..........canard damn near podiumed every 450 race he entered, grant is faster than reed, just see if he can keep his head in the game for a full series...................
Great. People who have watched the sport for a year, telling us how it is.
Changes contracts every year? How many top riders have ridden one brand for 7 years straight?
Inconsistency? Reed has had one of the most consistent programs in the history of the sport.
4 championships. 3rd all time SX wins. How many podiums?
Find a sport you know something about.

ToroP I could not agree with you more. I dont know anyone more consistent than Reed if you take away 2010. How many years has he been in the hunt all the way to the end only to lose the championship by a few points in vegas? Very apparant that the guy has no clue about the sport or Reeds Lebron James style role he plays in US supercross....

most of the top 450 hondas were running them for last years sx.

The one in the picture is clearly mounted in with the case saver and side cover. Both stock bolt holes. :o)

Its not that its top secret, its that although I'm sure Chad wants to run the FACTORY clutch over the store bought Magura, this would ruin his chances at privateer and contingency. He most likely just likes the fit and finish over the store bought too!

That explains all the grunting coming from next door.

Wonder what's so special about it?
I dont see what everyone is so up in arms about ....especially chad, once he starts winning Honda will throw every part they make at his bike....IMO I think Honda doesnt have any faith in him to an extent i.e. they dont want to adorn his bike with works parts bec of pride and money (pride being he is not a factory honda rider) but like I said ill 100% guarantee you that if chad wins even on or two he will have his pick of any and all HRC parts at his disposal.

Years ago when Jeff Northrup won or almost won Mammoth (I cant recall) he told me before his first Moto he couldnt get anything from Kawi not even a spark plug....after he went out an killed it in the first Kawi came over and started bolting all kinds of goodies on his bike w/o him even asking bec they saw a chance at winning and wanted to ride his coat tails .... pretty opportunistic to me, and I see the same thing happening to Reedy.

Yeah I just saw it as kind of funny that HRC would withhold something as harmless as a hydraulic clutch.

I love Honda's but the company seem to have issues, dumping riders in their prime, I'm not sure? Chad has his own team and chose their bike to race, and podium on, I'd think they would be stoked about it. Would it not look better for them, as a company, if Chad beat their riders on their factory bike instead of a PC bike?

I personally HATE hydro clutches... The feel is great, and they never need adjusting, but the never needing adjustment is a problem for me.. With a cable style clutch, if I am abusing it the cable gets slack and I take that as a sign to lay off the clutch for a while to allow it to cool (on longer motos). Since the hydro one self adjusts, I never get that warning and I just keep abusing the clutch till I get it so hot it actually boils the trans fluid out the overflow on my KTM

I wonder if there could be some kind of actuation mechanism that gives a traction control feed/feel to it? How cool would it be to be able to just dump the clutch and have the mechanism feed it for you.

I was reading an older issue of "Dirt Rider" (forgot which month, it was just on top of my pile of bathroom reading material) and they had an article about all the factory SX bikes (for the 09 season). They talked about the Honda hydro clutch and how it was legal because it used the stock engine case. So it is welded as an add-on.
They also said that Honda had the trickiest ignition. It has a special map for starts and then switched automatically back to the regular map when they started braking. They also have a switch to let the rider switch between 2 maps.

Partially correct. There are 2 maps, one for starts and the other for race conditions. The map is switch activated for the start.(U press a button) It switches back when the bike is down-shifted, not the brakes. Super trick shit, I might add.

BTW, do Hondas come in a WOMEN version?
If you look right below the small red bolt on that picture, it says MEN. And I noticed the same on the frame of my '07. What does that stand for?

Those cases have to be machined or manufactured different to accept that hydraulic clutch mechanism. It pushes right up against the clutch rod inside the cases. Its why you can't just take a KTM hydraulic clutch and adapt it to any bike. Also, The Magura Jack clutch just attaches to the clutch arm outside of the cases which isn't quite as efficient.

I heard Reed was fastest, Treynard was just a tiny bit off his pace, and Grant was "coming around back to speed' nothing said about KW though
