With Jettson out with injury does anyone else think Hunter could bag his first SX title?

Maybe a win in SX

That’s a race win

0% chance. He needs to win a main first.

I wouldn’t say 0% chance but I see a lot of other guys in the hunt in front of him currently.

Well...if he can stay in it while others can't...I guess we'll see.

I want to see Hunter win more than any other rider on the gate, but I don't understand this narrative of now that Jett is out, Hunter is the next logical choice for the SX championship. Again, I want to see him win over everyone else, but he hasn't even won a 450 race yet, let alone be considered a championship contender. I'm realistic, not delusional.

Now MX, I can say with confidence he will be a contender. But we're not outdoors yet.

Hunter can, yes…. But it requires him to do something he has never done before.  In the past 2 years, Hunter has like 2 450 SX podiums.  In that same time frame, Chase and CW have something like 22 WINS.  And we all know what Eli can do….  I think Roczen has a slightly better shot at it than Hunter.

Hunter is getting better, but SX isn’t his strength, MX is.  Win a race or 2?  Ok.  Win the title?  Not likely.

It's kinda the season where the stars could align for him. Jett out, Eli and Chase on new bike and team. I don't see him win a title over a healthy Webb though.

He is a smart racer who knows the goal is consistency and points not necessarily wins. Lets see what the numbers are after round 3 and round 5

I get it that some of you want to see Hunter win a race before thinking he can win a title.   But I think Cooper Webb had zero 450 SX wins before the season he won his first title.  Hunter does have 2 podiums.  And he has 2 SMX wins, which isn't too much different from an SX win.

I'm not going to pick him to win the championship, but if he won I wouldn't be shocked at all.

Fair take…. I wouldn’t be shocked, I just think it’s not likely.

The odds will likely favor Sexton, Webb and Tomac over Hunter when they come out.

I agree.  Hunter is probably 4th-favorite.

I would guess the odds might be something like:

Sexton +250

Webb +350

Tomac +500

Hunter 10-1

I don't think he is even 4th.  I would put him below Anderson.   Jason has a 450SX title, and has won 14 450SX races in his career.  He won 7 in 2022.

True, he is 33 now, but i still think he finishes the 2026 SX season ahead of Hunter.

If Hunter can capitalise early, if the other 2 have set up issues early. Yes, he's in the thick of things.

Who knows, he might just come out swinging.

Time will tell, but I think Hunter finishes higher than Anderson in the point standings for 2026 SX.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he did. But let’s see how he handles leading a main/points lead before we give him a title.

Also agree, I think Ando will have some great races, but also races that take him out of contention.  P5-P6 seems likely.

I’d put Roczen really close to Hunter in the odds.

And mark my words, someone is going to surprise us too…. Battling for top 5 or better that we aren’t accounting for.  Could be RJ, Ferrandis, Mookie, Prado or someone else…. But I expect it.

If he wins his first race I won't be shocked.

If he crashes out or wins nothing I won't be shocked.

If he wins many races and a title, I'd be pretty shocked.
