Did Deano somehow find 2-3 seconds per lap that will put him top 10? He’ll be right where he was the last time he raced SX, battling for 15th just this time on an HRC bike

Probably. But he'll be gathering data for the new bike, which is good for the race team.

I watched the grandpa Earl video and never thought about the ending till it happened.  That was a great surprise to see he really will ride for them!

Funny the older Dean gets he is more of a grinder. Not sure how healthy he is or in decent shape. But I could see him battling for top 10's.

So was this all seriously just an Aprils Fools Day joke?

They dropped the announcement on April Fool's Day as a fun thing to do, but no, it's not a joke.

Deano is such an awesome dude. Will he be battling for top finish positions, no. But he will bring some great data gathering for the team on bike setup as well as bring great media attention to the team.

tbf the dean vs savatgy fight for the 2024 Australian SuperCross title was really fun to watch! I learned to like Dean watching those rounds!
Im not enjoying the 450 atm (no prado, eli, jett, hunter, anderson... jeeez) so Dean will bring me back to watching it! NICE

Joey Savatgy but with Quadlock clothes/helmet, Deano, Shane McElrath could race all races on a 450 or race the opposite side on a 450... A bit more far fetched options are Tom Vialle racing three or four supercross races, like Prado did with KTM. Anthony Bourdon but he is also from Quad Lock Honda, Cedric Soubeyras, Todd Wilson (If he's back healthy)...

I know they don’t need to fill his seat but it would actually be really cool to see Vialle do some SX races!

Craig has filled in for Honda whenever they needed a guy when he was on the Geico team, maybe they call him up. He is considered an “extra” on Yarrives team, and I think his deal was for WSX initially and they’d see how it goes. Craig also has his own Fox deal which Yarrive was letting slide with the team being sponsored by Fly. If Honda wanted a full in, the easiest would probably be Craig, and if he’s firing like he was at some of the WSX rounds, he could be in the top 8 imo.

I hate it that you are right, but your take honestly makes a lot of sense for all involved.

Whomever they get, I bet will rise cheap just to get the chance for a half a season on that bike!

What other potential riders could get the fill-in?

Cullen Park fill in on the opposite coast 450 rounds?

Maybe Deano does some early season rounds instead of late season this year?

Maybe another fast foreigner to surprise?

I’ve talked crap on Craig because of all the adversity and all that crap, but I think he’d be the best option. He wants to prove people wrong and you can tell he has that fire in him right now, plus Craig already knows the Honda guys well, he was even teammates with the Lawrence bros when they first came here with Geico. If Craig did a deal with Yarrive it would also be for SX only with maybe a few outdoors like Savatgy this year? Yarrive can loan Craig over like he did with DeanO and get some brownie points with HRC 😁😁😁

Its gonna be craig or Tom.

For Tom It would be great to get some seat time and better acquainted with the 450 in sx so he could help with prototype testing while hes racing the 27 in the gp's.

Craigs just as said a great rider and always does good on Honda. Hes also been called up and done great for HRC as people have said. He could also race the full year where tom would likely just be for 1-4 rounds.

Tom is an interesting choice. I doubt HRC in Europe would let him do it though. Apparently they just paid a lot of money to him to be a title contender in MXGP. I don’t think they’d want to risk injury with that investment.

Yep, specially considering MXGP season starting super early next year (22nd February plus Hawkstone a week before that).

Would still be super cool to see him for a couple rounds though.

I got the vibe from Joey’s recent chat with Steve on Pulp that things may not be all well at Quad Lock. He sure was quiet about it. Joey or Craig would be great picks (sorry Deano).

I read or heard 2 years 800K per year, plus bonuses, clothing deal, etc.. I think Vialle should contend for the GP championship.

Vialle won't come.

Agreed , my feeling was that he didnt fancy SX on a 450, being a smaller guy, even though he bagged 2 Championships, on a 250, i never felt he looked fully at home in SX.

And with the KTM money woes, that HRC contract looks solid, with Herlings nearing the end of his career and Gajser jumping ship, he has landed a plum seat there and will want to be ready to go for the first GP .

The HRC MXGP team has a gear deal, riders can only do goggle deals on that team.

I believe Vialle is doing the full WSX series next year.
