At the moment an Aussie dollar is almost equal to a Yankee dollar

Greg Norman has been dumped from the annual BRW magazine list of Australia's top sports earners after 15 years at the top with Formula 1 driver Mark Webber taking over at the top.
BRW Rich List 2010
1. Mark Webber (motorsports) $13.4 million
2. Andrew Bogut (basketball) $12.6 million
3. Chad Reed (motorsports) $7.5 million
4. Casey Stoner (motorsports) $6.8 million
5. Tim Cahill (soccer) $4.2 million
6. Marcos Ambrose (motorsports) $4.2 million
7. Adam Scott (golf) $4.1 million
8. Ricky Ponting (cricket) $3.9 million
9. Robert Allenby (golf) $3.6 million
10. Harry Kewell (soccer) $3.5 million
While 55-year-old Norman would probably still top the list, BRW Rich List editors have made a decision that the earnings should be related to on-going sports performance not business-based.
Former world No.1 Norman rarely plays a tournament these days.
"Former BRW Top Sports Earner List No.1 Greg Norman has been removed from the list this year to reflect the continual slowdown in his playing commitments," a statement from BRW said.
"Norman still makes millions but almost all of his money comes from property development and other business deals."
Fourth last year, Webber leapfrogged last year's No.2 Andrew Bogut to become the new top earner after raking in $13.4 million during his stellar Formula One season.
The 34-year-old won four grands prix and came third in the driver's championship.
NBA star Bogut was second for the second-straight year after raking in $12.6 million with Chad Reed third ($7.5 million), just ahead of fellow motorcycle star Casey Stoner ($6.8 million).
Tennis star Samantha Stosur, who made it to the French Open final and finished the year ranked No.6 in the world, is the only woman inside the top 50.
Stosur earned $2.9 million to be placed 15th on the list.
Cricket captain Ricky Ponting was the highest paid domestic star, earning $3.9 million in the past year to be the eighth highest earner.
BRW Rich Lists editor Andrew Heathcote said the disparity between those overseas and those at home is nothing new.
"It is still very difficult to earn massive salaries in Australia," Heathcote said.
"Hundreds of footballers earn good money at home but even our highest paid footballers still don't earn as much as a diverse range of overseas based athletes."
Golfer Michael Sim was the highest new entry in the list, coming in 30th with $1.6 million earned, while world snooker champion Neil Robertson just snuck into 47th position.

With his endorsements,7.5 is very possible for 2010.
You can make 3.9 mil doing this ? Ha just noticed Google on the players shirt. Not a bad sponsor.
This is based on any earnings for the year, which can have carry-over from 2009 (bonuses, investment income, dividends etc) I believe it is a low estimate!
Now, 2011 is a different story!
Also it's interesting to reference to last year. Chad was quoted as saying that last year (2009) he made more money from his investments that from his riding. If you consider that with Suzuki he probably had a fat salary plus he won a title and came second in another, that he probably made well over $10m in 2009. So it might actually be a drop in income.
Pit Row
How about the Vodafone deal? Any income from that deal would also be added. Although, I doubt those are big income earnings.
If you earn $1M and you spend $1M, it is still considered $1M income (especially when being used as highest paid).
Contract +
championship bonus+
moto/ race win bonus+
gear+
outside sponsorships+
Aus SX series+
investments = LOADS of $$
I´m just guessing here, and I feel guilty for even writing what I think someone I don´t know earns - none of my business. But either way: good on him! He deserves all the money he earns
Scott?
Alpine Stars?
Monster personal sponsor maybe?
illegal Kangaroo Fighting Ring?
Perhaps he made some bucks from his own series also....
And how would anybody but Reed and his accountant know the real number anyway?
I think somebody is just making shit up here.
Even the biggest Reed haters online will defend Reed's preparation. I think this is one of the silly posts Guy B talks about?
Post a reply to: $7.5 Million says Chad's year wasn't so bad...
