Rup's thread got me to thinking about the first song I learned to play. 'Paraniod' I believe it was. The most recent song is 'If We've Ever Needed You' by Casting Crowns.

That's actually true! I learned lots of PARTS of songs prior to that, but that was the first musical piece (outside of guitar class, on my own) that I learned in its entirety.

That’s a hell of a first song. You must like a challenge.

I guess so. There were parts of the fastest bits that I didn't get right for a long time. But I always wanted to play that style of music, and my teacher kept making me learn Greensleeves and shit, so I think part of it was just knowing that I could learn something completely different.

Not sure which one came first.

I got hung up on the Yardbirds. It took me awhile to get some of those licks down. Not sure who those clown were. Probably one hit wonders.

It is still the only song I ever learned all of. I can play the cool bits and intro's of 20 or 30 more but not any other song all the way through. I haven't played in years though.

Chop Sticks!

My parents made me take classical piano lessons which was torture because all I wanted to play was the Beatles & the Stones!

Once they let me quit lessons I would spend hours learning rock n roll by ear.

If I remember correctly the first song was either the Animals' "House of the Rising Sun" or "On the Road Again" by Canned Heat.

You went from Sabbath to a Christian group. You covered the spectrum there.

First full song was "Dr. Love" by KISS. Most recent were "I'm Broken" by Pantera and "Living After Midnight" by Judas Priest.
