Hey guys.....I just wanted to see what suspension service you may think is the best. I personally have only used Race Tech on my last 3 bikes ( except the 2010 Yami ).

I have ridden a few bikes that had work done on them by Enzo and RG3 , and I know it has a lot to do with the way the bike is set up , but there were a couple of those bikes that were amazing!

IF you did get your suspension done......who did you have the best luck with as far as the way the bike rode , cost and service??

Have you ever thought of using Devol? They do great work and their local...

Hey Cody....i didn't really mention Devol , because a lot of riders I have spoke to had a love / hate relationship with their Devol suspension. I know Ted is a great guy , but i trust Dave Taxel....as he'll spend as much time as it takes until he gets the suspension working really good for me.

Factory Connection hands down, wherever you are from.
Can you really get Kewin Windhams setup as they say. Isn't that top secret? Same for Canard? I have problem beliving that Windham testing 1 year to make perfect and just give it away?
Also they are saying rebuild standard w some parts anodized of course. Every top rider or at least half-fast knows that standard rear whatever rebuild on Honda 450 are overheating and getting close to dangerus after a couple of laps. Even if changing oil every 2 hours? if you truly can. Please name on contactperson in CA and maybe price? Phone?

Most of the stock bikes that hit the floor , without doing anything to them , are set up for a 160-170lb novice rider. they can be tweaked for a faster Junior or INT at that weight , but if you are faster "or" heavier you are going to at least need springs.

Snake oil??.....that depends on what level you are riding at. I was big enough and fast enough in my days were the stock stuff just wouldn't cut it ( up until 05') . I had ridden a few bikes with RG3 and Enzo ( and a few others ) and you would not believe the difference it made. It also depends on your riding style and how aggressive you are on the track......a LOT of variables to consider.

Some guys that are good at tweaking their suspension can live with the stock stuff and adjust oil heights , shims , springs......everything , and be just fine. But when you start to get faster , more aggressive , (and in my case heavier ).....getting your suspension done by someone who KNOWS what they are doing....is worth their weight in gold.

Besides .....if someone can come help you set your bike up suspension wise....it makes your rides so much more enjoyable. It's what connects you and your bike to the ground......make it work good , and you'll like it......have it beat the shit out of you.....and you have a shitty day.

Jeffro503 If DeVol Engineering has more riders using their suspension than any other in the Northwest (Eveidence of the stickers on the forks) what's with the love hate statement. We don't have these numbers of returing customers with some love hate deal. Trust me, even if you have your stuff dialed for a particular customer and he is genuinly happy. The grass seems to always be greener. There is no trick gadgits to suspension. It's all about testing and customer service. DeVol does what it takes or we wouldn't have the following we do.

Again, can't say enuf about FC! Just the other day, I called them saying I would like to try a stiffer fork spring, and they sent them to me, NO CHARGE! This never, ever, happened with a couple of other companies I USED to do business with!

FC for life, now!

Morning Ted.......

The love / hate relationship thing I mentioned was just from a "couple" riders I had spoke to in the past , that said they didn't care for it as much as the stuff they were using at the time. I take everything with a grain of salt , so since these guys were not really paying for their stuff , they were probably just speaking well for their sponsors.

On the other hand , I have talked to Tom and Garret McIntire a few times about the Devol Suspension , and Garrett loves his setup. Tom has mentioned that I should get a hold of your son ( can't remember his name right now ) and see what Devol could do for me.

I was planning on using Dave over at Pro-motion , but i haven't made a 100% decision on that as of yet. I'm a fair weather rider now days , and this new bike of mine will probably be sitting until spring anyways. I know a lot of guys speak highly of your suspension , but just like any product on the market today , you will have some guys say "something else" is better in their eyes.

All I can say is try one of our setups on someones bike in your area that's close to your setup. All the bigger suspension companies know what I ment about the grass is greener thing. We lost a top local rider to the greener grass company and it's plain as day his new green grass is not tasing so good now. All of us can get most the trick parts. It's no trick. It's good customer service and available on site to get the bike dialed in. Sending it off to another state will not get you dialed in. We specialize in the final setup and that is our key to DeVol Engineering having so many happy customers around here.

For those who haven't heard from Smart Performance, maybe you should give him a try. Owner Dave Johnson is a really nice guy and has some solutions that are beyond the annual tinkering with oil & shims.

1st a little about my experience....I owned and operated 2 suspension shops in Maryland from the late 80's to mid 90's. Lump Racing closed when I moved to Quincy IL & later Sky Force Racing when I returned back to MD.

There are many small things a suspension tuner will do inside your suspension that unless you have been inside a stock set with a micrometer and measured every little piece you would never know they changed.

I suggest you use a local suspension tuner as they know your tracks and are there to make minor adjustments.

Since its been years since I was inside a new set of supension....and A lot has changed.....The YZF I just picked up will be set up by local tuner www.PrivateerConnection.com

Taxel @ Pro Motion gets all my work.

Besides being friends, he is dialed in on customer needs and service.

He revalved and rebuilt my KYB's on the spot one night while I watched over his shoulder. That's some great turn around time!

And his work always feels great to me. He did both my YZ and Husky and they both have great placebo effect.... I mean they both work wonderfully for me Grin

Yep, Jim did my 2010 bikes and I'm sold!
I have always used RG3 and done the Diamond kit on my off Road bikes and the A kit stuff on moto. Jim will be my guy from now on!

Regal ran production based suspension without any of the widgets that susp companies all have these days and got more compliments from the other factories than you can imagine.

I have NO compaints about RG3, they are awesome and have always given me the best service I could ask for, just found a local guy.
