I am super curious about how the crowd will treat deegs in Australia?!
Yes, I’m an Australian in Australia, and will be attending WSX on the Gold Coast this weekend.
While the Lawrence’s play down the potential rivalry, the memory of dazzy telling Brian to take a hike post the 250 outdoor season (Hunter won) lives on… and certainly some fans rage-baiting jett aren’t especially helping.
Also, NZ are a large immigration population in Aus, doubt the Cole Davies fans are placated by a PR orchestrated private jet flight to surgery 🤣

I honestly can't stand the little hobbit, but credit to him for getting out of his comfort zone and traveling and seeing the world, life can be an echo chamber living in a bubble. Good on him I say, can only be good for the sport.
If he acts like a F**kwit, he'll be treated, by the crowd, as a F**kwit, simple as that.
If he acts like a decent person, rides clean, he'll be well received.
All of the above, goes for any rider, really.
I don't think we've got much of a 'hater', or adorative, nor a 'sycophant' group of people in OZ, with regards to him. The one or two Aussies here (in this site) of either camp, really aren't representative of how he will be regarded at a race, here in OZ.
What has Really surprised me is the recent 'news' that he'd not ever been out of the USA before the Argentinian round. I can understand a youngster from an average family not having the opportunity / funds to travel, but a family reputed to be 'worth' millions, not getting OS, is puzzling.

I find it easy to "can't stand" a deegan.
You know he probably see's what he see's and some people don't really care for what they saw. I like the heart haiden puts into his racing and think he's a winner it's just too bad nobody taught him how to act like one.

I taught my children plenty of things that they did not put into action until they became much older than 19. Ive also witnessed this more often than not from observation of other people's kids, teens and young adults.
Unless you are very young, or you're older but you just don't pay attention, you should know this just as well as I do.
That means you're allowing your feelings to be controlled by someone,....To make matters even worse,...a teenaged stranger who races a motorcycle for sport.
For a 19 yo kid, he is doing pretty good. I can't imagine what kind of a complete jack wagon I would have been if I had Haidens skills, money and future in the sport when I was 19.

Not sure what you're on about.
I taught my kid to be respectful and to remain so in victory and loss as a very young child, and he's always been that way.... Straight through his teens, and 20s.

As a father of daughters I have unapologetically formed negative opinions on teenaged strangers many times. The thought that they are controlling my feelings or anything else is . . . odd. lol

In my opinion, that is a much, much different scenario than someone posting that they "can't stand" someone.
The point is that it seems rather extreme and overly invested and guilty of just as much "bad form" from the commentor as the 19 year old that they are describing. You could also see this as only something another high-school aged person would say. Hopefully that is the case.
You are likely plenty smart enough to easily understand this.
For what purpose ? Nobody else has and you certainly haven't.

I'm not defending Deegan. Im simply offering a civil difference of opinion with multiple people who have lined up to take part,.including yourself.
The funny thing is if all or any of these supposed Deegan haters ever had the opportunity to meet him face to face. Take a guess at what you'd think they'd say or do. Mine guess is nothing of the bravado they portray behind a keyboard.

Its like "if you dont hate the deegans then we aren't friends" mentality.
I completely get not being a fan, not cheering for, or even cheering against - in a competitive sporting kind of way. But to say you can't stand, or hate any of the riders (assuming you haven't met them and they didnt personally harm you) sounds very 13 year old-ish to me. Unless you are the holy people who think their kid is perfect as a teenager (give me a break).
The kid absolutely rips, like him or not he's exciting to watch.
If you watched his latest video, the reception seemed to be pretty good from Aus fans that saw him out on the streets.
