Bobby - RV is one year older and one year faster too...

Everyone knows what he is talking about when talking about dabbing the leg as people who ride dirtbikes, let alone race them for a living.

RV is just not scared to say what's on his mind and we all know this. It's kinda his game, but he back's up everything, and his 125 titles show it. 2 bad rookie years in 450 doesn't justify much for his career, he knows how to WIN the main event. And even you have said it.

I'm not arguing with you but it's the same on both sides imo in one year older and faster.
i see what you mean...if yer talking about racing up some stairs on crutches.

i am talking seat time ace, track time and above all live comp time. with the time off though, mentally rv may be ok or even better, recharge the batteries and recapture the desire to ride that scooter for fun and do it hauling ass.

Not to kiss Bobby M's ass or anything but he is right on in his assessment/analogy of RV vs RD. Not to mention the fact that he had that NASTY get off, and I don't care who you are, that will affect the right hand a little. Who can blame the guy for not wanting to go through that again? He has said so himself that was over getting hurt like that again.

Plus, I'd be a little more worried if RV was on that Suzy...just sayin! No doubt he will be a contender and he does look really good physically. I think Aldon will have him in peak condition come A1. Gonna be epic! I just want all the main players TO GET TO THE GATE WITHOUT GETTING HURT!!

RV will be there no matter who is lined up. Just like he always has been. That's just his way.

Key's to victory remain.

Respect the competition.
Do not underestimate or overestimate OR race any individual.
Stay focused on the goal. The Title. Period. End of story.
Only race the track. Not the field.
Get good starts (as always in SX)
Make consistent laps.
Avoid mistakes (see consistent laps)
Push hard (safely) when you feel it or when the track suits you.
Back it down when it ain't your night or track don't suit you.
Take what you can get (learn to play the game of points) and then repeat with a focus on good starts.
Get to Daytona and then re-evaluate.

If Ricky could do it why can't Ryan?

People tend to forget things like

1 RC came back after a full season out with his knee injury and came straight out and WON

2 James stuffed his knee sat out the series and came back and WON

3. There is no reason RV can't do the same .

these riders are professional athletes and only have 1 goal and that's the championship. RD has no advantage over JS RV or CR and the same goes for all those riders over RD . As far as i concerned there ain't favourite at the moment maybe come round 7or 8 we might see it by then but come A1 it's an equal playing field between all 4 of these freaks

Very true! Windham snapped his femur (I believe) and look where he's still at years later.

If anything, I think this injury may have let RV know that he is human and crashing hurts. If he backed it down last year and used kowitalloveragainnovice's list in SX 2010, he might have walked off with the title easy. Twice he gave away 20 points before crashing out while only down 12. Instead of pushing it and crashing and plugging his silencer, imagine if he backed it down and finished 2nd or 3rd that night. He looked to be panicking at St. Louis, even though he was faster and it wasn't even halfway yet in the race. I think he is going to be just as fast but in more control and more of a thinking racer this year, like RD was in 2010.

I just hope every top guy is on the line at every race this year. how awesome would that be.

BobbyM, I will have you know that the pecker pump works fine. The crystal ball now, that has been wrong from time to time!

And bama, I'm not the only one in this thread saying something similar. You don't think RV will crash out? You think your crystal ball works better than mine? Man?

Kids got 4 titles in the small bores so he know's how to ride fast and in control. That's consistently been proven. And 10 big bike wins?

But the key's to victory don't have nothing to do with any one rider. They are for everyone.... So who looks stupid?

Counting out RV is waaay more stupid than anything else on this message board. The kid is at the least a legit contender and quite possibly the next champ who could then dominate the sport. Indoors and out.

And so is Dungey and so is Bubba. I do not see anyone circulating in to the big 4 and if someone drops out of the big 4 while healthy it won't be Villopoto.

Wake up Boooby. I've told the uncle the wins dont matter and he told me they do matter.

And what did the nephew say? They don't matter anymore.

Fear the kid with the fucked up leg. He doesn't ride around in 3rd. That's not his deal.

Gonna be a great season.

I'm pulling for them all.

RV looks fit and knows he can beat RD but TC could play more a role than anyone is thinking- He has beat CP consistently and CP has covered RD in the past etc...it's all about confidence... I for one hope that Aldon adds lots of confidence to Poto!

track crutches are closely related to track crashes. Wink

it's like this unc...if ryan and ryan were professional free throw shooters ryan has about 25000 more free throw shots under his belt than the other ryan does, which means ryan is the best bet to win the free throw contest for all the marbles. ryan has it in the bag no doubt.
I will have to agree with you on that BM, unless of course that Ryan has only shot 12500 free throws each of 2 years so that his combined total is 25000 and he has made more
of those than Ryan. Then if they both go in to the 3rd year for 1 and the 2nd for the other,
they are pretty much even and whoever can shoot hoops for the full year will come out
ahead this year. Obviously, under these circumstances, Ryan is going to come out ahead this year. Do you get what I mean.

haven't these guys all been shooting free throws since the age of 5? A1 is a showcase of who did their summer reading IMO(off season prep) ..take Josh Hill last year for example-since Dungey is suddenly a shoe in.
11/18/2010 10:24pm
I don't.

I just know that Bubba and RV and RD will be ffffflying. Reed will be trying for podiums and paychecks but could find himself close to the title if he keeps his head screwed on straight.

A coupla guys are gonna have that speed, balls, confidence, desire thing this year....and a few others are gonna have the smooth, fast, pounce on chances thing this year.

And the champ is gonna have all of that.

Even if Bubba blitzes everyone like it was 5 years ago.......he's gonna need to put a plan together that does not include winning every race.

Human... barely...

For the fans, it was an awe-inspiring show, but for Carmichael, it wasn't enough. "I know I wasn't my best. I would like to apologize to the team and the guys working hard that I wasn't because I could have easily lost it for them," Carmichael said after the race. "I did all that I could do, all that I possibly humanly could have done." Although Carmichael ultimately won the MX1 class, with 3-1 moto scores, the overall win went to Villopoto, who won both the combined MX1/MX2 moto and the combined MX2/Open moto. It was the only time in history that a rider in the MX2 class, which features the least-powerful motorcycles on the track, won the MXoN overall.

It is awesome that RV is coming in ready to race. RV will win some races but its my guess he will not win the title. I dont think RV will be as aggressive as in the past - just a thought from one of his interviews where he stated he thought about giving it up while
laid up last year and that he would not put himself in that position again.

It is going to be a great year with a great field and great racing. We will have multiple winners.

Cant wait for A1 - It will be awesome.

When I watch that interview what I see is Aldon doing his job. What is Aldon? He is a trainer. A trainer is a paid motivator. The whole team has bought into the whole "motivation" angle. If anything they are trying to convince themselves of RV's mental state. They are talking the talk and will get a chance to walk the walk come A1. But anyone who believes that RV is as confident as he was while on his winning streak last year is fooling themselves.

Oh, so you really think I have a crystal ball? That I was making a definitive prediction about the season? You think that I am sitting here on my fat ass behind my keyboard controlling the fate of or possessing the ability to accurately read the future of the season?

Or is it more likely that I am just giving my educated opinion based on years observing and participating in the sport? And a statement that has the word "will" in it is still nothing more than an opinion, especially considering I stated MHO (my honest opinion) at the end of said statement?

I say Ricky and RV have IT and you don't. Ryan won't crash out in the first 3 rounds and
he knows how to ride a 450 as well as anyone in the WORLD, but I guess we will have
to wait a few months to find out who is right.

RV will be ready no doubt, I was at Budds when he was the fastest rider in the world that day, and I m a huge RC fan, but i call it like i see it, Dungey gets his credit, superfast, Stewart should be ready, and Reed will come out swinging! That being said I m a huge Metty . RV fan! I want everyone healthy and ready to rip, no excuses, fitness, bike set up, blah, blah blah, these are pro s and should be prepared!

The race where he beat "part-time" RC? That one? This year is a 2 rider battle between RV and RD no doubt about it but "full-time" RC would have gapped Villo by 15sec.
