Why is it so secretive? If they had a bike close to production there would be details to share.
Pretty sure Kawi’s not basing their (supposedly) big two-stroke offering on GNCC.
Why wouldn’t they? GNCC has a huge following and its fans make up a majority of the market in the US.
They’d be crazy not to. Why would they base it on MX when off-road is where the 2 stroke is still very popular?

The KX contingency program this year was very biased towards GNCC and Nat. Enduro, seems like Kawasaki perceives value in the offroad segment.

I believe this was a marketing ploy and a move from Kawi to capitalize on what was looking to be the demise of KTM at the beginning of the year. There has been no movement or noise since a tweet to start the season and no one knows anything about it. In our world and society with social media and industry there would be more chatter and details emerging if it was close to production or even in the works? Also i don't believe they would be focusing on Woods only two stroke to kick this off and no way Stu Baylor would be talking about it to the general public with no one else saying anything.
Hang in there, it's happening.
If you were a betting man would you say the 300 will be counter balanced and FI?
Stu is the factory kawi offroad effort, and owns the team. So it would make sense that he would be the test rider for the bike.
I know who Stu is. And I understand they could have him testing the bike. That makes complete sense. But what doesn’t make sense is Stu telling someone about it, given how secretive it’s been. I’m betting it’s one of them friends of a friends third cousin who sold Stu a case of beer 3 months ago.
well, he was definitely in Japan testing something for off road, As mentioned, he IS a factory Kawasaki team owner. His YouTube channel showed the trip and also made no mention of why he was there, but documented everything else why while he was there. So simple logic says he was testing a new off road 2-stroke, or a new something.
I talked to Stu personally at the Muddobbers NEPG (the club I belong to). We've talked many times in the past.
This is paraphrasing but what he told me about the whole thing and the trip to Japan was the bike he rode was super aggressive and wouldn't be liked by most people in its pre-production form. He said he would expect it to undergo a few changes, be announced early next year and be out as a 27.
Chassis changes, or engine changes? I'm hoping it's still a little more traditional Japanese engineered and not just straight copying KTM on some things.
WDSR- The one thing I agree with is 2027. New 65,85,112 and whatever the real secret is.
He didn't elaborate and I didn't pry. He just said in the form he rode, it was fine for fast guys and people at his level but was way too aggressive for a production model.
Whatever problems they are encountering, we should be glad Kawi is taking the time to get it right. Too many OEM's get to the point where leadership says, "Shoot the engineer, we're going to production." in effort to start generating revenue that was likely in their financial plan.
In that case, the consumer becomes the development mule with warranty costs and brand damage control as effects. OEM's must weigh this out. Some still chose to take the straight to market approach as a benefit is to be 1st in a segment. I don't see that here, so good call IMO.
52 pages and y'all still haven't figured it out?
in that short he's on a KTM.. they look to be dumping a new KX300 four stroke soon so my money is that was the secret bike he was testing.
Pit Row
Clearly. Enlighten us.
I dont know. I just got here.
This but in Green. MSRP $8799. At dealers in Fall 2026.

Brother that video is from 2 years ago.
Stew has ridden it. Its pretty obvious that Kawasaki is making a bigger push off-road the past couple years as well, they will sell double the amount of bikes to off-road racers anyways.

Weege making fun of Kawi at Eicma.
It's a shame that they didn't even have at least a teaser of some sort. I'm very surprised by that.
This makes me think this thing is a long way from happening.
Zoom was suggesting January/February with product on the floor, I was told big bike(s) on the floor summer of 2026. That window keeps moving every time I ask.
Gotta believe the restyle kit is the closest this thread has
Who do you ask? Your local dealer or someone who may actually know?
Someone in the know who works at Kawasaki. They are sworn to secrecy and don't spill the beans unfortunately 😄
How is everyone so sure what CC they are making?
