so one thing I don't really understand is Herlings and Vialle both moving to Fox gear? I would have thought with the big change and two astars/airoh athletes, that Honda would transition to Astars, Aiorh, oakley/100%. Do most MXGP teams run team deals over personal gear deals like most of the AMA 450 rides?

Should there be a 250 stock class instead of age group classes?

There used to be like stock classes in the world superbike junior series, not sure how that currently works.
I think one issue would be that multiple manufacturers would not like it since their stock 250 is a lot less powerfull.

Yes, MXGP/MX2 teams pretty much all operate on gear deals. But pretty much all of the riders can do goggle deals, kinda weird.

The HRC team has been Fox forever, so that stays regardless of it being Tom and Jeffrey coming in.

Similarly, the Yamaha 450 team has been Alpinestars for quite some time so Gajser switches from Fox to A-Star by going there.

The exception is Ducati/Maddi Racing, who let their riders do their own deals.

The Kawasaki MXGP team, through IceOne, lets Romain Febvre have his own gear deal, but they signed a deal with the same brand for the rest of the team.

If I am not mistaken, Just1 is actually a 450 team deal for ICE ONE. I think the only factory 450 guy that has his own deal is Seewer.

But Seewer had Renen when he was there and Valin wears Bud gear?

I think we're "finally" seeing the true effects of the bad overall economy and especially a bad powersports market. I think this is the reality the coming 3-5 years at least.

Agree. No one wants to admit that outside forces affect this sport,  but the economy certainly does. That said, infront's decision to run an EMX series right next to MX2 certainly negatively impacts the MX2 numbers.

That's exactly what ML is saying... 😉

That's also exactly what ML is stating, Febvre (and Seewer I guess) could have their own deals.
But after Febvre had a personal Just1 deal, the MXGP team also made a team deal with Just1.
That only applies to the MXGP team

Yes indeed.
Could the rumours of some months ago become reality: outdoors with HEP Suzuki?
Let's hope together with Glenn Coldenhoff, would be a great addition to the outdoors!

It means Renaux will finally stay with Yamaha for the 2026 season.

Indeed, think they had some good conversations going on and this is the best solution for both brands.

Curious with Vlaanderen on the Ducati!

My take is that Renaux wanted out at Yamaha, or his management did, after it was announced Gajser was coming, the team said 'non' and as a result, Vlaanderen is surplus to requirements , just like Geerts is.

He is one of those guys that can (and has) won GPs' , but will never be a championship contender.  He is a better bet than anyone else available for that bike though. Beating Seewer isnt a high bar at this point

Regarding Geerts,  many have said he's with Beta. But after the test on Beta Elzinga was announced but not Geerts. Is he entertaining other options?

I though it was a done deal, with Geerts but maybe not, as you say, it hasnt been announced.

I think beating Seewer on the Ducati isn't going to be that easy as you make it sound like. Let's hope Vosters and his team can figure something out with the Ducati to make it somewhat comparable and and raceable like the other brands. Especially in the sand.

We all seem to think we still have Yamaha Seewer, when he is long gone.

He finished behind Gajser in the series, and 200+ points adrift of Vlaanderen  who wasnt as good as he was in 2024.

Agree with Vosters, but he has a job on his hands, if CV10 beats him easily this year, i dont see him getting another 2 year deal, assuming he wants one.

Imo it would be pretty bad management by Beta to publicly test Geerts when he is not signed. I mean most of these guys test the bike secretly before they sign, but nobody goes to Lommel and publicly test it.

Guess what, Renaux and Yamaha will be a pain in the ass story for 2026! I dont get the vibe and the reason to keep a guy that clearly wants to leave and didnt have a single good thing to tell about the team and bike.

Sounds like a good recipe for succes…

Don’t think so. With Gajser coming in, they will work for some good results.

Why keep him? Cause they spent a lot of money on the 3 year deal? And if nobody wants to buy him out of that, then he needs to stay.

What a disaster with Renaux.  A couple of years ago I thought he would become a title contender, he has been so underwhelming.  Makes me wonder if Gasjer can figure the bike out or if he drops off the pace for a while.  Late February will come fast

There are many rumors of Geerts and Fredriksen (Yamaha) and Coldenhoff (KTM) riding in Brazil in 2026.
