A factory rider is not selling it. Keir is not a factory employee or rider. What if Chase gave it to this buddy you describe then his buddy sold it? Still a “twist of the knife”?
Also, someone stated that Chase bought these himself, and thus would be well within his right to sell them (which he isn’t)

Why does a factory rider need 2 sets of suspension to practice with in the first place. Im pretty sure KTM has suspension for Chase to practice on.

But what if Chase liked the KYB shock too and part of the reason he’s out at KTM is they wouldn’t let him run it on the race bike??
It’s no secret he wasn’t a fan of the WP shock…
He may not need the extra cash, but maybe he told his pops to sell them and keep the cash.
Rumor was that the shocks wouldn’t last a moto. Maybe he didn’t want to train on something during the week that might pogo him like it did it Vegas 🤷🏻♂️

When I picked up a Tacoma a year ago, I sold my Ranger and made the guy who bought it take ALL of the parts for Rangers I had accumulated over the 26 years I had driven Rangers (I mean I included a whole lot of extras!). It was the end of an era for me, and I didn't want to store those parts. It was good for everyone. It was a good era by the way. The older Rangers with the 4.0L are great trucks for the time.
Maybe Keir or Chase just wanted them out of the garage.
Plus, it's pretty cool to give fans a chance to buy Chase Sexton's suspension.

KYB shock internals work in WP shocks. FYI
It kinda crazy because it means they went out and bought the forks and shocks with their own money, thats how unhappy they were with the factory WP stuff. Also for $2500 for forks that just a stock WP tube with a KYB drop in, so he'd rather run an off the shelf WP insert than FACTORY WP equipment...Crazy
No, I really don't. I think it's a sale of suspension no longer needed while the going rate is as good as it's going to get.
Is it common for factory riders to buy parts for practice bikes? If so, are the OEMs knowingly okay with it?

So why do we need the multi-million dollar rigs designing, changing and tuning the suspension if the Factory guys are just doing it themselves and sourcing their own parts from non supporting sponsors?
