Honestly, the thing that sticks out the most was how hard a random midpack B final guy was sending it off of the wall jump, further than anyone else, every single lap Saturday and Sunday. #137 on a Yamaha, Christopher Blackmer on the FIM Asia team.

Guillod had the nastiest scrubs of anyone on it, and you could tell it was giving a lot of people trouble. Jett almost died twice on it, RJ was just a dead sailor on it, straight up and down, and Farres among several others endo'd into it.

Godzilla is still steep, and the inside rut at the top was over knee deep.

The woods section looked beautiful and I would have loved to watch from there if it weren't for the banners completely blocking your view of anything at all unless you were on the fence. I personally think it was cool as hell even if it sucked to ride, looked like it got down to bedrock in spots, along with roots, making it a unique gncc section that I feel every track should have one truly unique section to make them different/special.

Getting out was a bit of a shit show, but overall I think the organizers did a good job of keeping the whole event running smoothly. Saw lots of rogue vehicles FLYING across the bean field

I'm like you. The most striking thing to me about watching pro racing live is how good the guys are that aren't even considered good. It's the only thing that puts some perspective on just how phenomenal the top guys are

The guys up front are going Mach 3 with their hair on fire and they make it look kind of easy. This sport bit me in the ass over 50 years ago and weekends like this last one are still some of the most enjoyable things I do in this world. Moto is life.

Growing up in Iowa, my brothers and I worked for my uncles who owned farmland. Each year we would spend many weeks picking up rocks in certain areas of the fields. (the entire fields didn't have rocks, and these were typically 200-300 acres each field)

Seeing the amount of rocks and size of those rocks in the pics, makes me wonder why the track owner wouldn't pay kids to pick up rocks over the course of a season pre and post grooming the track. In one year you could eliminate a decent percentage of those rocks. In two to three years, probably over 50% that could be worked up by tilling/discing.

Maybe not the case as somewhere like Unidilla, but certainly could at Ironman.

Thanks for the pics/experience!

I mentioned it in another thread and haven’t really heard much discussion about it, but the crowd/fans running across the track before the last moto was even over was pretty wild to me. The last ~15 riders had to let off the gas immediately out of a turn to not mow people over.

I was involved with a newly operating track in the early 2000's and we did this with a fair amount of success.

You are correct, its not overnight, but over 2-3 years it made a significant difference.

Nowadays you can even pick from any one of several types of skid attachments that do a  great job.

Dude I agree that guy was absolutely sending it.  Getting out I thought was great we didn't wait at all getting out Saturday and we sat for 10 minutes tops Sunday but we went left while I think a lot were trying to go right.

I’m told a lot of the fun went out of rock removal when they made it harder to buy dynamite.

100% in a rental Camry🤣. Drove through and straight onto the road Saturday and then drove out and then paralleled the road and jumped in at the front of the line Sunday.

We blasted through a ditch to get out as well. I heard people waited two hours to get out.

Reminds me of waiting in line to get out of Millville 1985 and watching Ronnie Lechien and friends blast through the gutter in a rental car to pass everyone. He won the 125 title that day so I'm sure he had a party to attend... or maybe it was underway in the car.

We did the exact same move you did Sunday! 😂 Brilliant. We got TF out of Dodge in minutes. I love that some of my Vital brothers did the same.
