Who among you would have ridden this if they would have resumed the racing?

Funny they said there wasn’t enough daylight left to run the race. There was. Wonder what the real excuse was?  Lightning was way gone by then

I think it was 6:10 - 615ish when i saw them call the race while watching on Peacock.  Could they have gotten the Futures / Next (amateurs), the 250s and the 450s all in before dark around 8:00ish?  I don’t know, that’s why I’m asking.

One issue I heard in passing, about ten minutes before the cancellation came out, was how Dirt Wurx was going to deal with re-routing the "motocross section". Everyone had agreed that section was beyond gone and needed to be cut out to keep racing, which might seem simple to re-route the track right before it left the grandstand area... However, they mentioned they would have to build a section to circumvent over the walls again, and with very muddy dirt. There were talks of running one section the wrong way to re-route a lane, and some other comments. Either way, they mentioned it would take them at least 30 minutes or longer to make the changes needed once we left the lightning delay. (30 mins after each lightning strike before they're cleared to work on the track or lineup riders). Some radar trackers that teams showed me displayed another possible cell hitting us soon as well.

On top of that, I was in the pits for a bit before the cancellation. The majority of teams and riders I spoke to were pushing for a cancellation. A few commented about how sketchy the track was before the rain, and not a lot wanted to go back out there. Including a couple of podium-level 450 guys commenting on it...

I think it's a combination of factors. Running late into the day, issues with the outdoor section, needed time to get the track usable, pressure from teams and riders to cancel, disagreements on track re-routes, etc.

Many of the top forms of Motorsports have cancelled events mid-running for weather lesser than this.

A major concern from riders I heard that is unique to this venue...if a jump is sloppy or slick, there are plenty of instances in SX launching off the sides of jumps...

Well, thanks to this being a four-wide drag strip, each lane has massive concrete barriers in between them to land on.

I know many of us have raced mudders during our times in motocross or some form of off-road race. I can't imagine few if any of us have every race a SX mudder, though. That is its own beast.

I can’t believe they even hold a race at that venue with those concrete walls everywhere.  It’s unsafe in dry weather let alone wet.  It’s an accident looking for a place to happen .  Just my opinion.

seemed very cheap ass not to line the concrete barriers with hay bales. Seemed like a disaster waiting to happen.

A host of items such as venue rental/limitations on when it has to be cleaned up and everything moved out. Rescheduling all of the TV crew, track staff, operations and more to stay another day. All the teams staff, riders, media etc.

Big one is probably TV staff, the cost to keep them here another day and if it’s even logistically possible with their timelines.

Millions for a championship in the 450 half a million for the 250s and they can’t pay the people overtime to run two motos Sunday morning!? What about the people that spent hundreds if not thousand to attend the race?

My problem is your acting like it’s okay and will defend Feld and mx sports to save your ass

They can not fix the track. You can't build a new track out of mud and you can't race on this layout. I know you don't believe it and liviing in SOCal you never see rain like this. YOU have 4 concrete walls to go over. There is a chance of rain tomorrow morning also. And this is clay not dirt you are not easily moving it around when it is this wet.

Sux but good call.

I don't think i'd want to be attacking a rhythm section in the mud with those concrete walls down the side.

The sport has likely peaked. That aside, I work in logistics now. I move lots of equipment for trade show type events and disaster work. The mess adding one more day to this could easily run into several million in a blink.

100% that’s why motocross is joke to main stream sports what other playoffs have a two delay mid race mid game and call it?

The race is supposed to consist of two moto combined scores
