I actualky think he’s a stand-up guy.  He could probably have faked an injury and stayed another year, and cashed in.
But instead he turned down a lot of money to prove his point.

Let’s say, hypothetically, that Kawi just weren’t delivering on their side of the contract.  What options would Jorge have?  What if he’d tried everything behind closed doors and still wasn’t gaining any satisfaction?

You guys act like you know what kawi was or wasn’t doing as well as Prado. But here’s a thought. What if you are working a job and ask your employer for a drill because the screw driver isn’t working. Then the employer keeps being screw driver after screw driver for days and never gives you want you want/need? Do you quit your job and then tell people about what it was like? I feel like every interview I heard with Jorge he was always saying the team was working hard but they weren’t there yet. Maybe he said a few things towards the end a little stronger. But if you don’t think the bike makes a difference for these guys, go look at Jeremy Seewers same results on the Ducati. Podium one weekend and then fighting to score a point in the sand. It can make it that big of a difference.

Well we know he quit on the team....We know that Kawi was bending over backwards trying to get to where he wanted by testing at Club, by having Tickle work overtime on testing and by flying in Taka in from Japan with parts to try....What we don't know is whether Kawi has the ability or the personnel to meet his needs and expectations...but at the end of the day he signed the contract rode the bike and was quoted as saying how much better the Kaw was than his Gas Gas...He couldn't have handled this any worse....

You assume Kawi was bending over backwards.

How, given what was said and seen by the team make you believe that the team weren't trying?

I don't know what Kawi was doing with the bike...but I do know that after almost a year of trying they couldn't please Prado and it culminated with a former World Champion getting the worst case of sandy vagina in public that I have ever seen in the sport.  There are a hundred ways to have handled this situation and he made probably the WORST decisions over the last month that could have possibly been made.

Now we wait for the ultimate FAFO in about 3 weeks...

Prado even said the team was trying. I think even up through washougal he was thankful and saying that the team was working on it. The thing is, the team could be putting in 100%, but also not going the way Prado wanted to go. Obviously prado was putting in the work too while the team was testing and trying. But ultimately, they weren’t going in the same direction from what it seems. Both sides can be right or wrong in this situation.

Still not ok to be a quitter. You ride as hard as you can and show that you can deal with adversity. He only showed that he takes his ball and goes home.

I don’t assume I know….You don’t think by going to Club because Prado wanted to train there, having your test rider work overtime to help get the bike where Jorge wants it and then flying the main development rider from japan with new parts that were created off of feedback from Jorge and developed ASAP is bending over backwards??  And even if they weren’t trying (which they were) it in no way excuses the sandbagging and public shamming that Ole George has done…And this is coming from someone who has been very critical of Kawi and their Managment…but he signed the contract rode the bike and claimed publicly that is was worlds better than the Gas Gas….

He rode the fucking bike before he signed the contract and after signing said the bike was worlds better than the Gas Gas….there is nothing hypothetical about quitting…If you want to be hypothetical try this…Ole George is a horrible test rider and because of this he and the team went down many rabbit holes in trying to resolve his issues…and even if that’s the case to take zero responsibility, trash the bike and team online and try not to qualify…well that’s some bullshit right there…

This is unadilla press day. He doesn’t say anything bad about the team, says they have tested and they are going to keep pushing to try to get better. I’ll even go watch washougal and see if that’s the one thinking of.

Come on man. That’s the weekend after they “found something” before they lost is the very day after this interview. Maybe I’m being too harsh on him due to those 2 or 3 really shitty interviews he did clouding my mind. I can admit that. I still think calling him optimistic after TV would be a stretch. Do you not agree the two vital interviews and pulp interview that made the internet crazy were unprofessional?

Also you changed it from thankful to not saying anything bad. That’s two very different statements.

my point is that Kawi´s hirings have been the 2nd worst results wise among the factory teams since Tomac Left. maybe the management has something to do with it and they arent being accountable. I bet their budget isnt the second lower and they are punching below their weight.

Nearly every rider says the new bike is really good. This isn’t anything new. This doesn’t prove anything. One thing is for sure true, he gave up easily. It’s also hard to forget the track record Kawi has had with weird team/rider issues. I’m ready for it to end and move on to better weekly content. The Prado saga is beat to death.

Best case scenario for Jorge is continue to learn sx next year and compete for championship outdoors on the KTM. If he does that, most people will forget about this year by end of next year.

We are short term memory forum guys. I know, horrible showing this year, but would love to see full effort next year for the benefit of making series better.

Well, here’s the one from washougal that started it all. He actually says the team is trying their best and they are gonna get there. To me, it sounds more like a guy that’s frustrated knowing he’s better than he’s showing, and not getting the tools he thinks he needs to get the job done. But he says it a couple times that the team is working hard to get him there. But as I mentioned before, working hard and not being on the same page can both be true.

I think the best case is for him to go home. But you are right, if he stays here and becomes a podium guy, this will be forgotten by most. If he struggles again next year, here in the USA, it would severely damage his career.

Of course these are all press day interviews so they are going to optimistic….it’s the post race ones he did with Lewis is where he was negative towards the team

We can agree to disagree. I know people never admit they are wrong, myself included, but you did make me realize other than the three absolute unprofessional interviews he did, he maybe wasn’t as consistently unprofessional as I thought.
