So me and my dad usually watch the race on peacock, but today decided to try out nbc because since its on regular tv (we have youtube tv) you should be able to fast forward through commercials between races like normal cable. Since peacock is an app they have extra control and if you dont fast forward before the commercials start they lock you in like they do on youtube or other apps and you have to sit there while it counts down. So were like hey lets try out nbc today and see how it is. BIG MISTAKE!
Watching on nbc is borderline unwatchable. Yes theres commercials before and between the races, thats normal. Mid race though at around the half way mark they cut away to like a 2 minute long commercial. Ok thats bullshit, but whatever. (Jett also crashed of course during commercial break as youd expect….). Anyways literally 1 lap goes by and they go to ANOTHER commercial break???? So we sit through another 2 minute commercial break right after the last one. There was like 9 minutes left and 4 of those were commercials.
So we come back from the second commercial…. and after 1 lap again now they split screen it and run an smx commercial. Both of us were swearing at the tv and completely pissed off. How many freaking commercials do you need? We said f this and went back to peacock.
This gets down to the final point. Whether the peacock app we pay for or the youtube tv we pay for, the original reason you were even supposed to pay for cable or streaming was to not have commercials. You can still get an antenna and watch free tv, that is supposed to be paid for with commercials. Just like how youtube is free that is paid for by advertising. Free tv or free apps are supposed to be paid for with advertising thats normal. The fact that we have let them slowly add commercials to paid packages is ridiculous, and now theyre adding more and more and more. These corporations always need to make more money next quarter, next quarter, next quarter and theyre squeezing us from every angle. The fact that the racing is basically unwatchable on nbc now means theyve pushed it too far. Not everything should be constantly getting worse over time, this shit has to stop at some point. How far is this going to go?
I watched every moto today uninterrupted because I pay for a peacock subscription. It’s also why I always laugh when people say all the races should be on network TV instead of streaming. I don’t know a single person under the age of 30 that pays for a cable subscription or uses rabbit ears.
Seeing how often they have cut to commercials during the peacock stream when it’s on NBC reminds me of how shitty of an experience network TV is. $25 for a full year of uninterrupted racing with Peacock + whatever shows they have in there, no reason to complain IMO.
so u pay the commercial free package and if the commercial is running u can watch the race 🤔
without watching the commercial break screen
"coverage will be resume shortly"
I watched on peacock and saw every second of every race. 💁♂️
Yea its about that weve let it get to the point where not only do paid services now have advertising, which was never the deal that was promised, that was the whole reason you were supposed to pay in the first place, but now its near the point where youre basically watching advertising with a little bit of content between ads.
The options were supposed to be free with ads.. tv, streaming..etc or pay to not have ads. Then they slowly start creeping them in and now you have a low tier with ads and now have to pay for the next one for no ads. Then that one gets ads then you have to pay for the next super duper special super promise no ads version… and then that one gets ads too after weve been milked everywhere else and they need to find a way to increase profits next quarter.
The point about nbc though is that if its damn near unwatchable then whats even the point? If the race was on the free over the air channels that you pick up with an antenna then have fun, its free, thats how its supposed to work. With youtube tv though or your cable provider youre paying a lot of money, having a product that is that expensive with that much bullcrap is obnoxious. I guess you guys are fine with it though so theyre going to keep stretching it as far as they can.

I would guess that 99.9% of us watch the races on Peacock and know that a 450 is larger than a 250 but here we are.
At least the commercials gives you time to write out your novels(posts.) 😀
NBC? What's that?
As usual, I watched with my international package whatever its name is, saw everything live and just couldn't believe how often James and Weege stopped commenting to make room for the commercial breaks...
You're trying to watch your favorite ads on NBC, and all of a sudden, they're interrupted by motocross. Unbearable.
Watched on peacock ad free. Actually enjoy the “commercial” breaks.
Yes, Now if they would just remove that stupid 1/4 screen banner at the top ...
I watched replay on peacock and noticed nbc went to a commercial . Watched the time for moto. Came back to the race and not even 5 minutes later there was another commercial . They did this twice around the 17 minute mark and 13 of two motos. I do enjoy the peacock nothing but bike sound though.
Jason says enjoy the sounds of the race peacock watchers while we go to a commercial break...
I typically watch the replays on peacock, everytime I use the fast forward to skip the between races crap I have to wait 60 seconds for a commercial when first pressing fast forward then watch 60 second of commercials when I stop fast forwarding to start watching.
I pay for the intermediate level of Peacock. I start about an hour late and fast forward thru the breaks/ads (and Screech if the race is boring). I catch up to real time by the last moto (if there isnt a red flag).
The gigantic header while on commercials for nbc is fantastic. I think they do it to make people mad.
