This thread is a joke. The MXdN 2010 was the greatest race I have ever been to.
So much more than just a national or one of those silly supercrosses, and I have been to plenty of those.

MXoN is cool, but get rid of MX3/Open unless they will ride 650cc

To not see the top 10 of American racers is a complete joke. Think of all the guys who DIDN'T get to race because of the skewed system on MXoN teams.

Its time to change the format. Start a points system that rewards the entire years racing so the top 12-15 guys qualify. Allow 2-4 or 6 captains picks. Bubba races (as a captains pick), Morais races, Wiemer races, Alessi races.... the list goes on and ON. wake up people!

Next.... fund the damn thing. Allow the top american's (based on whole year points system) race against the top non-americans (also whole year points) stop the country madness!

Lining up one country, belguim or spain or italy or england against the American depth is a complete joke. Absolute joke. Wake the hell up.

Make this race mean something. Line 20 top Americans against 20 top NON-AMERICANS, and lets go at it.

Wake up!! This race in it's current form is a laugh fest. Only a true idiot would cheer this "AMERICAN" win.
Obviously you were not there.
You got that right. Retards like phlewy call the race a joke but if they were there they would know that there is more excitement than any national . I have been to three MXDN races and they have all been great.

The wife and I were actually thinking of taking our yearly vacation to wherever the MXdN is going to be that year and plan our week-long vacation around it. That is how great it is.

Next year will be our 2nd European vacation that just so happens to coincide with the MXdN event in the same country, that same week. Smile After going to Italy last year, it's hard not to want to experience all of them.

exactly it is a race like no other.. because it is a nations team race... the best one -off race of the year. Once you go to one you realise and never want to miss another one...

A GP where the home countries rider can win is awesome too.. an Italian GP is crazy with Cairoli atm, Holland is great with Herlings, the British GP is also always great...

Maybe the USGP in the years to come can be a points paying national and we can see the top AMA vs FIM race you speak of. The MXoN is an incredible race and race format full of history, leave it alone.

Next years MXdN at St Jean d'Angely will be pretty epic I should think. I shall definitely making the trip along with many other Brits I expect.

Its a superb track and already a popular GP destination for travelling fans from other countries. The French will be going crazy supporting a potentially great team and the weather is still generally pretty good in that region during September.

If you haven't already decided where you're going to visit during your vacation then La Rochelle, Royan and the whole coastline just south west of St Jean d'Angely is a beautiful part of the country.

I do think that they should have more fans at these events or there isn't gonna be anymore MXoN.

phewly your comments are a bit of a joke.

You want us to make the MXoN to be just like the stupid golf Ryder Cup!! ha ha! Now that is a poiitical mess if I've ever seen one.

Yeah, let's make motocross just like golf!!! Now that's a JOKE!

You make it sound like team america completey dominated and nobody else was even close. Go take another look at the results!

MX1 Dungey

MX2 Roczen

MX3 Desalle Doesn't look like an american white wash to me?

The reason america do so well is that you have enough talent to be able to take 3 riders all capable of top 5 in their respective class, even after faster riders have missed selection with injury. Lots of countries only have 1 or maybe 2 such riders. The overall difference between Dungey, Townley, Cairoli, Desalle etc is very small, they are all capable of winning or getting on the podium. But it's the 2nd and 3rd riders that other teams seem to be missing. France, Belgium, Australia, New Zealand, Germany and Italy all had riders that could or did win, but don't have the depth to secure top places in the other classes.

I don't think the overall speed of the fastest men from any country (or series) is greater than the ohter, just that america seems to have a lot more of them at the moment.
I get tired of this pithy excuse about how America is bigger and more populated. Dungey dominated this year, just like a few years ago Villopoto dominated, just like a few year before that RC dominated, just like years before that Bailey, Johnson, and O'Mara dominated. American consistently produces top-notch racers that are the best in the world. Maybe it's our amateur system, maybe it's supercross, maybe it's our mindset, maybe it's a combination of those and some more. Whatever it is, this whole world vs America is silly because we can still win.

Take a Dungey, Villopoto, and Canard (or Stewart) and you have a team that can win anywhere and anytime. The reason America does so well is because America produces great riders. Period.

This might be the dumbest thread ever at MD, Vital.. whatever.

So, there's no chance that the USA can lose? Talk to me after France next year. After BEING THERE in Colorado, I think we are deep shit next year unless we send a true "Dream Team".

If it ain't Dungy, RV and Stewart, we might be losing to a country that has never seen a battlefield that the didn't want to avoid.

The present format is okay, and economical.

It's hard to beat the old format; imagine today the same team of four running 250f's one weekend and 450's the next. Or, given that two weekends is never going to happen, 250's on Saturday and 450's on Sunday, two motos each day.

And no bringing two stroke politics into it because this is all imaginary fantasy that won't ever happen and it's not worth another brawl within a thread that's a brawl already.

A "ryder cup" type race would be cool, but not the MXdN. And people would still argue in spite of the results anyway.

I like the MXdN the way it is but it would be awesome to have a separate event with open pro entry and huge purse to draw in the top guys from all over the world not just the ama mx and fim gp series.

the 3 class structure is what needs fixing... Make MX3 a 2 stroke race.

Did you even read what i wrote? I never said anything about population or size. I simply said you have more fast riders than other countries do????

And if you want to say Dungey dominated then fair enough, i'm not going to argue. But by the same token Roczen did the MX2 and Desalle the MX3.

Yep. A top ## riders from each series race is cool.

But, like everyone has said, this past weekend was a great weekend to be an MX fan. Best race I've ever been to.

If you don't love the MXdN then you don't love motocross. To hate the MXdN is a straight up admision of an alternative sexual lifestyle. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

It has been this way, in various Moto formats for the past 60+ years, a formula that works and is well supported by teams, ridrs, fans and sponsors.
Why suddenly are the top 20 Americans the only riders you think the world wants to see?
Apart from Dungey, Canard , Villopoto, Short, Barcia etc, there isn't a lot of depth in US motocross at the moment, which is why the national top ten, particularly in the lites class is dominated by imported riders.
It is a WORLD Team championship and yes a lot of countries don't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning, but they have every right to be there!
Stick to watching WWF, NASCAR and Baseball World Series if all you are interested in is seeing homegrown talent.
I guess someone needs to explain to you that the 250F class is clogged up with past world champions and almost world champions who are racing against 16 and 17 olds who just got done racing Lorreta Lynns.

....and Trey Canard IS the national champ right?

Talking about MXDN domination without mentioning the accomplishments of Magoo especially, or Sun, Laporte, Hansen or Wardy a seven time Team USA rider, shows you must be "Johnny come lately" guys who need to research your moto history!

You must be pretty short sighted if you can't see how certain factors such as population are stacked strongly in America's favour.

Take a Dungey, Villopoto, and Canard (or Stewart) and you have a team that can win anywhere and anytime.

Pick a team of 3 from
Cairoli
Reed
Pourcel
Desalle
Roczen
Musquin
Metcalfe

...and you'd have a team that would give them a damn good run for their money.

And some of you mus' be on it!

MXoN rocked. You DID see most of OUR top 10 riders...Camard,BT, Regal, Shorty, Dungey, WIlson, Metty...etc.

I'm jus' sayin'...
