Reed and Stewart (and Villipoto) left the door open and Dungey walked right through it last SX season. Now that he has had the type of year he had last year on the 450's his confidence and program are obviously at an all time high. He understands when to be patient and when to be fast and that you have to race the whole season to win the title. He seems to have lazer like focus on the task at hand. My point here is that I think he will out run Reed and out last Stewart who we know darn well will sample the soil on multiple occasions. Villopoto worries me indoors and I wish his rehab was going to force him to wait till next MX season. I think we better get ready to see one helluva SX season.

I'm with ya..I was the guy sayin he was lucky and just in better shape, not faster. He is FAST. Ping said on a podacast last week, dont be surprised if this is the start of another carmichael type run...I'm still not there yet, but the other guys are gonna have their hands full, for sure.

Reed will have to ride a better series than he ever has to beat RD.... not sure if he has the drive at this point in his career to do so....

RV will be suffering from the same thing Stew is- being damn rusty after not having raced very much the last couple years...

and RD isn't just fast... he's smart.... that's gonna be one hell of a tough combo to overcome... no way anyone is beat'n RD unless he gets hurt...

Dungey is SMART, i think it''s a huge advantage over going balls out to win, he can pick and choose how to race a race, the guy is very calculating, he may back it down and let someone else win a race or two cause in the end he's playing for the big prize championships and longevity in the sport. I don't see him ever riding over his head unless it was a down to the wire win or lose the championship, it takes more than balls to win at MX and Dungey has a complete package that i have never seen even in Carmichael or Everts. Sit back people it's gonna be a long ride with Dungey as the boss!.

good points for sure BUT i still think RV and james will have something for RD BUT i do agree RD knows you dont have to win every race to win the championship he is smooth as they get , it will just come down to what is better for this upcoming season , balls to the wall or smooth and in control....

It'll be an awesome sx season if everybody stays healthy but I don't see anybody consistently beating dungey. I wasn't a fan originally but after seeing him throw down this weekend you can't hate on him at all. He's bad!

people are quick to write off two of the best to ever run this sport because of a bad year.

dungey is the real deal, but if everyone is healthy next year it will be interesting.

Ive done that a few times. When he reels in Mikey with I think 12 minutes left down by 16 sec. He just looked sooo fast in that race. I just hope all 4 are healthy to start the season. What a season it will be. And lets on forget Pourcel. Its gonna be one of the most exciting SX's ever!

I agree Dungey is good. You can't take James and Chad out of the equation yet. One bad year for both riders and you think Dungey owns the world. I guarantee you both Chad and James will show you why they are the third and fourth best SX riders of all time.

LOL. It will be interesting. I do think Dungey is smart. I don't think he can ride faster than Stewart but I do think he is smarter and may be able to beat him by not crashing like Bubba does when he is put under presure.

Dungey is healthy mentally and physically. Reed and Stewart are still fast, but it could take a whole season for them to get up to speed, while Dungey gets more confidence daily.

You can't be serious. Take a season for Chad Reed and James Stewart to get up to speed? I could assume they both want to go out there and kick the holy living shit out of everyone to prove themselves after a horrible year. They will be read no doubt...

Are you talking SX or outdoors? I think Dungey is deeper into everyones head than anyone knows. If Stewart wanted to he could have raced outdoors last year. He tried one national this year, quit that and bailed on the rest of the year too. I didn't see any interst in showing up for his fans or sponsors.

Supercross, and everyone knows Reed is the toughest mentally. STewart and Carmichael have stated that. Chad does not get beat up mentally, and he seems excited to prove everyone wrong from what i have read and heard. I am stoked for 2011

I'm a Dungey fan for sure! BUT......honestly , if Reed and Stewart show up in shape and ready to race at A1.....I don't see RD beating either one of them.

And that is NOT a slam on Dungey.......just that Reed and Stewart are that good! RV.....everyone knows he has the speed to beat all three of the guys i just listed.....but keeping it on two wheels is something he should be shooting for......not just riding like a maniac and wadding himself up again.

Also....just to throw into the equation.........don't forget about TC and CP.......they'll be right up in the mix as well.

Whatever the case.....it's going to be one hell of a battle!

I dont know how to say this, because i am a fan of Dungey and have been from the beginning...and he is FAST, but there was something about RC that was more exciting to watch? They definitely don't get to the checkered flag in the same fashion, but i just loved RC's raw wild child sort of style from the beginning, still do clearly

Let me guess, the Oracle from The Matrix told you it was a possibility? But that you'll have to figure it out for yourself?

I'm not anti-Dungey mind you but Ping's wrong!
To use RC & RD in the same deal, as the 2nd coming I beg to differ!
See, RC raced the best when all the best were there-n-healthy.
RD, I think not.........
Both are Champions yes.....
Both are Champions in both Series.....
Both are Multi-time Champions.
But if they were both photo negatives, RD's would not over lap RC's.
Greatness is RC!
Dungey's on his way, but still under construction!
For me, I want to see a truly healthy field.
In SX RV was coming.......& coming hard, but I always say you have to be there in the end.
Dungey did just that, Indoors & Outdoors.
He beat all the remaining challengers, & to that he's our dual Champion.
But in a foot race with RC, I think not.
Not yet...........

it was a shitty jump that took him out, not his riding style.

I see battles between Stewart, Villipoto and Dungey... You might as well toss Carnard and Pourcel in that mix also. I'm not sure about Reed... He only wants to do one more year and retired, no one has signed him yet...

If I was a team owner or a factory manager, I wouldn't be so sure about hiring him and the money that he wants. He would have to come down on price and race for bonuses.

I'm confused again...

I distinctly remember a bunch of posts and/or threads about how Dungey was an "illiterate home-schooled moron" who didn't have enough intelligence to put together a unique podium speech.

What happened? How did he get so smart so quickly?
