The GP riders certainly had nothing for ‘Poto on that day. One of, if not the single most impressive MXoN rides in history.
Is there a way to watch these full motos?
I was there. It was awesome!
When Prado says his 450 doesn't have enough power show him this clip.... Boom Roasted!
But yeah, such a legendary ride!!!

Johnny O' just entered the chat... fresh from the '86 MXdN... and is dragging Dave Thorpe in by his ear along with his RC500.
It was awesome and imho the second most impressive MXdN performance ever. Danny Chandler's two weekends of terror in 82 is #1 in my book
All this being said I am wondering if Haiden might pull off an overall moto win this fall.
07 was the year that Townley was his teammate and he nipped it RV's heels all summer. It was impressive by both riders!
Me too! I remember hanging on the fence screaming my head off every time he came around. I also remember telling my buddy I was concerned Villo was going to run out of fuel because he was flogging that KX so hard.
I dont think he touched his brakes in either moto. Seriously was the best dirt bike race I have ever been to in person!
I remember him going down the entire start straight with his front wheel just off the ground. Such an impressive ride that day.
Similar to RV is Steve Lamson on a 125 actually winning a moto at the MXDN. I think it was Spain.
I was there for that race. I remember RC, TF, and RV being the only guys jumping Big Gulp every lap. There was only a hand full of guys even doing it per moto.
i was there and i swear you could hear that fucking bike all the way around the track that's how hard he was getting it
ps... what fucking quad rider put that garbage music to the clip? holy shit
Good question, knowing them you would need to pay Luongo his ransom for the privilege to watch a race from 18 years ago
How old was he there? Like 17? 2006 was his first year pro if I remember correctly.
I'm not sure that a 250 rider will ever win both of his motos at MXDN again. Not to mention that RV had Ricky and James on his team. Wild to even think about.
Didn’t Thorpe’s 500 lose its rear brake?
What’s the story on RC that day?
He was ‘retired’ by that point, I understand, but still had good form.
Was he sick?
I'm pretty sure RC gave RV his gate pick for the last moto(he had first gate pick) So RV would have the advantage and he surely took full advantage of that inside spot with a holeshot. That was an epic example of a team working perfectly together.
Can't say I've ever heard him mention it and he offered no excuses - actually, quite the opposite - in this MXA interview (and the "1996" is obviously a typo) ~
