My buddy lived next door to roczen in San Clemente, then he was getting ready to sell his business for 20 million so he moved to Jackson hole and bought a place for 2.5 million to avoid paying ca taxes, 2.5 was what he was gonna have to pay to ca to sell it there.  Lawyer told him to live there 2 years even though he leased a jet and just flew back to his office in Newport every week. After 2 years he sold the Jackson hole house for almost double what he paid, he bought roczens house that he used to live next door to, he also bought a ski in, ski out house in sun valley for 11.5 million and bought a ton of acreage in pavones Costa Rica and is starting a surf eco resort. He does private equity now and making even more money. I have other buddies much more successful then him also.  Tons of money out there. I’m happy w my San Diego house, I have couple acres, tennis court pool and 1 acre track and I live pretty close to the coast so I feel like I achieved my dream.

A coiple acres in San Diego sounds incredible. Sounds like you really are living the dream. Hell yeah brother

No, this is a moto forum, not a talking point about systemic issues in our country. People come to this forum for moto, if they come for something else it goes into NON moto.  In this case, I am ignoring nothing. In fact, you simply blanketed beliefs on everyone instantly and have your little soap box your on.  Again STFU it doesn't belong in here. You have zero clue about others including myself, this has nothing to do with "comfort" of "hearing" and all about tact.

Not here to debate with someone who jumps straight to “STFU” when they disagree.

Anyway, I’ll let you get back to being the forum gatekeeper. I’m out.

Ah, the old “you’re the triggered one” move — a classic.

I made a fair comment about inequality. You responded by repeatedly telling me to STFU, then tried to pass that off as just standard forum language. If that’s your idea of a thoughtful contribution, cool — just don’t pretend it’s everyone else lacking awareness.

Anyway, I’m not here to trade insults or keep this going in circles. You’ve said your piece, I’ve said mine. Let’s move on.

I grew up in N.G.Ranch … surfed Creek almost every day back in the late 80’ early 90’s…i miss the climate and surfing, but not the rest of it.  Love visiting my family that’s still their but always happy to go home to peace and quiet.

Two of my previous girlfriends lived in Nellie Gail, super cool neighborhood. One of the girls had horses that we used to ride all throughout the area, which was a lot of fun.
When choosing where we wanted to raise our kids, we opted to head a few cities south and head for the beach. If we didn’t love SC as much as we do, I’m certain NGR would have been high on the list of neighborhoods we would’ve chosen.

It is an absolutely beautiful place. But if I were in that sort of home shopping price range, I’d probably look for something else. It looks like the bike shop area takes up all the garage space.

Now if the garage/shop is double deep and there’s still room for 3-4 full size vehicles AND the shop area for the bikes, it’d be just about perfect.

Someone is going to live in their idea of paradise, though, no doubt about that!

Does knowing it’s rv’s old place add any value? I always wondered if knowing who lived there before added any value

For  $12m, you could get a decent size piece of land, and build whatever you needed, in plent  of other states and still have enough left over to live the rest of your life.

That’s a really simplistic way to look at it. Not everyone starts life with the same support system, stability, health, or access to opportunities. Things like childhood trauma, systemic inequality, addiction, or mental illness aren’t “choices” — and they can’t be overcome just by trying harder. It’s easy to assume everyone had the same path, but life isn’t a level playing field.

Give me a break. Life isn't fair, get over it. It shouldn’t be. The ones who wake up day in, day out deserve what they get. The world doesn’t need to be charity.

A couple things with regard to RV; I suspect he did well off the race track with his money.

I m pretty sure RV was holding a lot Monster Energy stock when he retired  (MNST). It's tripled since then.

Also his family was in construction. So there was probably was some guidance with the remodel on the house as he dad used to build houses.

Lots of family members to help out I suspect. Good for him! Nice to see him doing and living well.

Not sure I'd want my  little boys to go race moto though. Too many injuries. Other safer ways to make a buck. My 2 cents...

For those of you wondering how RV afforded this house and needed several million to start with I can tell you that he was able to build some wealth in the crazy real estate market.  RV started in Newport Beach by buying his first house not too far away from this Santiago house on Highland Dr in Dover Shores.  He bought that house on Highland for 4.05M and sold it for 5.69M and then rolled that 1.64M into the Santiago House with a 1031.  So technically he could have started with as little as 850K as a deposit for his Highland home, and that flip turned into 1.64M in proceeds which allowed him to buy the 6M house on Santiago.  So if RV actually gets close to his asking price of 12.9M for Santiago (not sure if he will), then he was able to make 7.6M gross (less all taxes/expenses) in approximately 5 years from an 850K original investment.

The area RV's house is located is not the ideal "Newport Beach" location because you are surrounded by Costa Mesa, but it's only one of two places where you can get the old massive equestrian lots, so I'm curious to see what it will go for.  In a normal market he wouldn't get that much, but right now things are really crazy because all the wealthy people who lost their homes in the fires are relocating down to OC and paying ridiculous prices for homes.  So it's good timing for RV to capitalize on the madness.

If you guys think RV's Santiago house is cool then check out Pat Tenore's compound next door.  He's building a resort on his lot, it's insane.

I always think about this as well. My wife and I both went through college and have good jobs. We work hard and long hours and we can barely afford to live in a townhome in Oregon on combined incomes. It's insane. Meanwhile, how are people living like kings and it seems like they barely work? Money pass down?

…working for anyone will never pay off. Anyone with only a W-2 income is basically a slave.

Start your own business- high risk but high reward…

Selling a $12M house in a $2-3M neighborhood might present some challenges. No matter how nice the structure is. 8’ ceilings anyone?

First thing I noticed.

Kinda kills the "luxury" vibe.

The home under contruction next door (borders RV's property) is way larger than RV's and has a larger lot. Will probably have a price tag north of of $18-$20 million when complete. Do some research, its shown
