Juneteenth is a 5 year old politically motivated holiday and that’s a fact. Slavery officially ended on December 6 1865. Anyhow…slavery bad, also political holidays to try and grab votes also bad.

Juneteenth celebrates the Emancipation Proclamation. If you read up on that, it only freed slaves under southern control (because it was wartime tactic and not some moral gesture recognizing the universal freedom all humanity should have). Maybe RV is upset that all the slaves weren't freed at that time? Or maybe he's upset about SMX going woke and playing to the small, but mighty, woke mob.
Freedom finally came on June 19, 1865, when some 2,000 Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas. The army announced that the more than 250,000 enslaved black people in the state, were free by executive decree. This day came to be known as "Juneteenth," by the newly freed people in Texas.

I used to live in Galveston and it was only celebrated there for many years and since 2021 its been a national holiday. For those who dont know what Juneteenth is - its when the slaves in Galveston found out that slavery had been abolished, supposedly being the last slaves in the US to find out which occurred on June 19th, 1865; 2.5 years after the emancipation proclamation and 6 months after the 13th amendment had been proposed. Im surprised that this holiday isnt celebrated on April 8th, the day the 13th Amendment was passed. It would make more sense.
