Ah Musquin,
those are all very legitimate American excuses :-) We Americans will certainly make excuses if we don't win. That is human nature. If the Euros are trying to imply that they will not make excuses if they don't win they are lying to themselves and to us. The problem that I have is the underlying anti-U.S. vitriol contained in most of the euro posts. We can poke fun at each other in a good natured way without it always having to turn ugly. The American riders respect the GP riders and vice versa so why do we (armchair quarterbacks) fight with each other over it? Pointless.
Have you ever seen two football fans from rival teams calmly discussing a match without getting all territorial???
It's sports fans..............................as long as no one takes it too seriously, no one gets hurt and we all see great racing, I'm happy for anyone to win.
Sadly it seems since 9/11 a great deal of Americans have become very suspicious of anyone and anything that isn't home grown and console themselves with feeling that there is a lot of anti US vitriol around the world.
Aside from the Talliban in Afganistan and Al Quaeda followers there is certainly no anti American feeling here in the UK or Europe and we respect great riders like Dungey and Canard..
As you guys are the MXDN favourites and defending champions, of course European riders and supporters want to beat Team USA. It seem's a lot of US fans consider this one race to be a benchmark for which continent has the best riders and lay scorn on the GP riders and their championships.
The US Nationals and GP's both have their own unique supporters and it's not a sign of weakness or insecurity to appreciate the best from each championship.

As an American, of course I'm rootin' for the US of A, but I guess the excitement of seeing uber exotic machines ridden with unbelievable skill rekindles the old memories of when the Euros first came over and showed us what was possible. I know we've done quite well in the sport (as if I had anything to do with it) and I'd always thought that made us moto brothers, so to speak....we grew up and made good. I don't mind good natured jabs but sometimes these threads come across as pretty hateful. I must be due for my period...I sound just like my wife.

9 - The American riders aren't tested for drugs !

8 - They are aloud to use what ever fuel they like !

7 - We don't have about 8 man friends to get us through a race, google man, boot man, helmet man, shoe man, glove man, pitboard man, etc.....

This will be a great race and all the Racers deserve respect.

There are lots of imaginative and humorous names on here but "PorkCannon" made stuff come out my nose.

#1 The French and Italian teams fail to show up. Turns out both teams had gone out and sampled the local Colorado seafood .... Rocky Mountain Oysters. No one is sure if they are still physically ill ... or just psychologically traumatized from the knowledge of where their "seafood" came from.

Britain would probably have won in 1985 if Kurt Nicoll hadn't broken his leg in practice.
Anyway we whooped Team USA in 1994 at Roggenburg Switzerland.

You might want to check your facts, the last time pre 1994 the UK won the des nations was 1967 Bickers/Eastwood/Smith. Now if you`re talking European wins since 1981, the last time was in fact 2004 Everts/Strijbos/Ramon and since 1981 European teams have won 9 times.

#12 - we sent our "B" team

(every team except US has 1-2 "decent" riders or 1-2 "excellent" riders)

example: decent, excellent, decent OR excellent, ok, excellent
