Apparently I’m like Chase and I had to leave KTM group. After three TBI 300’s I was forced back to the BLUCRU work horse known as a yz250. Lots of thoughts on both bike, since the yz is new let’s start there….yz 250 is hands down the funniest bike you could ever ride. The motor hits like Mike Tyson, bone stock suspension has better bump comfort than my $8k kit stuff and it corners like it’s on rails. Did I mention the sound, PC shorty, 180 main jet and a third gear pre rev before landing a big double and that’s it, life is complete.
With that said the TBI 300 IMO is the greatest motocross motor ever created, anyone that says those TBI bikes are slow or not as good as carb bikes either hasn’t ridden one or something was wrong with it. Oh speaking of something wrong with it, that’s why I’m on a yz250! Ktm, you shit the bed, you created a product with flaws and electrical gremlins. When that fucker runs right it’s momma bears porridge, literally the greatest motocross motor you could ever race. It has all the easy to ride (lazy) characteristics that a 450 has while still 100% being a two stroke. I’m 2-3 seconds a lap faster on it than my yz250 and it does that with less effort from me. The motor has more pull everywhere than the yz while also being way easier to ride. So hopefully they figure them out or Kawi makes one run right because TBI and 300cc two strokes are amazing. On the yz you’re so busy smiling from excitement that you forget what a lap time is or why they matter.
Now onto hand guards, how or why anyone would ever compete in a moto race without them is beyond me. With the new steed and no chance to get some yet I experienced life without and I’m at a loss for words. It seams 99% of riders don’t use them, my biggest question of why is because I haven’t seamed to found a downside to them? The upside is your fingers don’t get pelted with roost and rocks, that’s a pretty good upside, what is the downside of them? If your name is Jo shimoda you might even have an extra million in your bank if you ran them, but only Travis, myself and the log hoppers seem to understand that. So what am I missing, why don’t more people run them? ( As I post a pic of my 125 without them...)

Congrats on the new steed! I've been wanting to try out the 250X for a while now. I'm 100% in agreement on the handguards. It's a must on any bike I'm riding.
Even though I always run them, I'd have to say if I ever didn't it would be due to them sometimes being a pita to install.
Seems like it's always a challenge to shuffle buttons and levers around to get the right orientation. I just installed a set of SXS beefy mounts/shields and although it was much easier than the full wrap cycras I was running, it was still annoying.
1. Congratulations!
2. Handguards for the win 👍

The “U” is before the “A” in guards, but this is a proper “spoke with my wallet” post for a change.
Speaking of 300s I spoke with my wallet last week as well 🤣

Heck yeah! Well done, and great post.
Stick a V-Force in there and THEN life will be complete.
Team hand guards 😎
The most common excuse I hear is they are distracting while riding, but I wonder what those people are looking at while riding 😆
Plus one on the hand guards.
Yiu guys have “ roost guards” ….these are real hand guards….mow down small trees with these Cycra”s….
Love my new YZ250X. The carb feel is much better than the TBI IMO, especially of the bottom. My dad has a TBI 250XC and I definitely prefer the YZ power delivery. It's pretty crazy how comfortable the chassis still is considering how old it is. The updated seat profile makes it feel more modern. I had a 2024 YZ250F with off-road mods last year, and 250FXs for the few years before that.
Also, the perch mount Enduro Engineering handguards are the best in the game.
My son is in love with his 250x. I prefer the engine on my TBI 250xc....maybe cause I'm getting old.
The cool thing about the YZ's in general....they can be anything a person wants them to be.
Congratulations! Your wallet is speaking the right language... with a handguard dialect. Bonus points for the YZ in the living room.
Oh I got that too! It was actually quite a big improvement in power delivery, more that I expected. As I mentioned the yz is def more of a challenge to put in a long fast 20 min moto, the v-force helped with that. Two main factors, the hard hitting power and lack of low end grunt compared to the 300 I was used too. The reeds really smoothed out the bottom and added roll on power. Second thing, fuck it vibrates! Coming off those counter balanced KTM’s this vibration is killing me. I’ve got thicker grips now and luxon rubber mounted clamps on the way as well as light speed engine hangers. Once it’s top end time I’m going counter balanced yz300!
Thanks I got it the body of my post so I do know how to spell…some things, I just fat fingered that.
And this is VitalMX. I stress the MX. Not VitalEnduro or VitalXC.
In MX we typically don't run oversize tanks or letters after our numbers like you do.
I ride it all… Mx, Gncc… …its all good… but I get you… Vital MX bad ass👌
hell yeah. Just need that graphics guy to get on some sweet 69 plates.
Post of the week!
Congrats. YZ250’s & YZ125’s are my favorite bikes, hands down.
I want to run hand guards. I own them. But I struggle to reorganize all the stuff on my bars so the hand guards themselves are placed corrected.
Any tips?
I stressed to him that we had 30 days until mammoth a couple weeks ago, you and I both know those graphics and numbers will be picked up on my way outta town and installed at the track 😂🤦♂️
