Wonder is Bobby and Yamaha find a budget for Eli after the weekend.

How you can let Eli go is beyond me.

Get rid of most of the 250 team

So put all your money into one guy that will most likely retire next year?

All this off the back of one race.  Let’s see how Eli does over the remainder of the series.

Yes dude, it's Eli. He's finished near the top of every MX/SX he's ran unless he got hurt...which isn't many. It's wild that we're even talking about Star letting him go.

Guys, I’m pretty sure the Star 250 team budget has nothing to do with the 450 budget. Cutting Daxton Bennick and Michael Mosiman isn’t gonna get Tomac his $$$.

He hasn’t finished a full season since 2022.
Call them fluke injuries if you want but Hes had 3 in 3 years now.

He didn't finish SX in '23 because of a fluke injury at the next to last round with a huge points lead, essentially gifting the title to Sexton, but yeah you're right i guess.

Watch his arms barely move and the bike work underneath him in 2015. I don’t know if I’ve seen a better set up bike than that year. I love going back and watching it.

Yep SX has taken him down 3 years in a row. Luckily he was able to come back this year and too a small degree last year.  But I’m sure that’s something Yamaha would consider as a factor.

He's also winning races in either series if he's there. How many other guys can deliver on that? 3? Jett, Sexton, Coop.

Thinking back last year or the prior year when he decided to retire that Star told him that they needed to know at that time if he wanted to continue or not as they as a business had to secure their future riders

They had diaper boy coming up ( he is fun to watch ride and very talented)  Webb and Cooper to sign.  Total business decision and Im sure there are no hard feelings.

Not always easy to rescript a budget once in place.

I’m not saying they are right or wrong. But his value drops if he’s not able to stay healthy. Couple that with Webb winning SX and Deegan moving up next summer and JCoop being pretty impressive it’s not unfathomable that they wouldn’t see eye to eye.

Jett wasn’t able to defend his 450MX title due to injury. He wasn’t able to defend his SX title due to another injury. Roczen has been hurt. Webb delivered his first title since 21’. He’s missed time with his back and thumb injuries. All these guys have been hurt at one point or another.

Good point. Tomac has been at or near the top of 450 for 10 years. Jett is a beast, but has also shown he's at least, if not more fragile.

If he wins maybe Bobby just cuts him a check from one of his car dealerships.

I don't have a video because I was too busy watching, but I was about 20ft away from the corner going up that gnarly uphill abomination and Tomac was absolutely beating the fuck out of his clutch trying to catch Jett. So cool to see up close.

And Jett has had two with in about 9 months give or take. Big difference where they are in their careers but it can happen to anybody.

I predict Deegan's personal life choices will derail his motorcycle career before he matches the greats. No way I'd be basing the future of my team on him as the #1 guy.

Entitlement.  Once you step off the compound there are always consequences to your choices.
He cant help the environment he was raised in and he is young.
My hope is he will learn.  He is fun to watch and I enjoy hoping someone beats him.  Thats value.

I really enjoy all the pseudo team managers on Vital throwing in how Star needs to "just find the money" to sign Eli. They dont even know that Star pays the 250 guys and Yamaha pays the 450 guys but they have all the solutions

Seeing Deegan's physical condition at the end of 30+two compared to his competitors, makes me believe if his personal life choices derail his motorcycle career, he must be taking up ultra marathons. You do not beat the best 40 250 riders in the world totally unwinded by not putting in the massive work. Deegan wins most of his outdoor races in the last 15 minutes, he is doing the work, his competitors - not so much. It is blaringly obvious. First couple of laps, they all have the speed, last few laps separate the men from the boys. Say what you want about his odd behavior, but the kid obviously works.

Star has 8 250 riders, but paying 9 (Craig) from the 250 budget. Out of the 8, 4 showed up to Fox and 2 made the top 20.

Seems like they’re burning money over there.
