All grades on the curve relative to expectations.

Prado: D- rode like a guy with a big $$, three year contract. The vaunted starts weren't there. Guess that GasGas he loved to shit on was not such a bad bike.
Guillod: A. New bike, new (strange) track, new country. Still finished ~ top 10. Impressive.
Paturel: A. Nice ride. See Guillod comments.
Kullas: C. A little underwhelming given last year's results but this field was stacked. Let's see how he does on the softer stuff.
Pepe: C. Not a lot today. Finished about at expectations.

Vialle: C. See Prado comments. He might be the least aggressive pro I've ever seen. Will never send it. It's a good recipe for a long career with nice finishes and no national championship.
Harrup. I. I for incomplete. The expectations built for him by some in the media were simply insane given his MX2 career. (No wins and about 3 or 4 podiums in 4+ years), not to mention the challenges of a new country, series etc. As the series moves east I'd expect better results.
Have at it...
Sexton had a rough day yesterday but the biggest loser from yesterday was the MXGP’s. Always a little brother series.
Weird to see what you wrote for Prado vs everyone else. Was it not a new track, new bike, new country for him and coming off surgery. Or it was just because he got paid. Just tell us you made this post to shit on Prado.
D might be a little much for prado... but I did expect a holeshot at least one moto. I don't think anybody thought he would Tortelli 99' the opener.
Vialle.... that's just him I think. We've seen smooth beat all out agressive before but it's going to take a push from him if he wants a piece of Deegan.
It was new track to him, not a new bike or country. He's been here since November. But it's graded on expectations and he didn't pass anyone all day. You can't seriously say it was a success or even met expectations. For Christ's sakes, man, the guys a world champion.

Fair enough
Its the 1st round so racing smart and scoring points is a great 1st step.
It takes a lot longer than 6 months to get use to living in a new country. There’s a lot to consider.
The bike is absolutely new, not sure what you mean there ?
I'm confident Prado will grow into the series and we will see some holeshots. Champions figure it out. He lined up next to Jett the second moto which is always a challenge. Overall, I think the euros did pretty well. We always underestimate the challenge of a rider changing series the first year
Nope. "Absolutely new" is what Paturel has. He's had enough time to sort the bike. Plus he spent 5 months here last year. He simply doesn't have the same level of adjustment as the others.
Well… you’re entitled to your own opinion
D-? Come on bro. If you expected more, you haven’t been watching the sport much. I maybe expected a few positions better at most. Not enough to lose my mind on round 1 and say he’s mailing it in for a check.
Its just cool all these guys are coming over to race in the USA….makes the racing better….
First it's based on a curve. Second, I don't believe he passed a single rider all day. He got absolutely worked by Plessinger. On a track Plessinger hasn't ridden well in the past. And lastly this is a Pala specific opinion; I assume his results will improve. But it's just not possible to call this a successful debut. That said, he came away healthy. Maybe that was his only goal. Relatively low bar for a champ. In my professional career, "meets expectations " is a C.
Double standards. People on here have a lot of hate. Its awful.
Id bet the peeps that post crap have never raced and prol have a hard time keeping a gf.
I don’t think Prado will be a front runner. I think he’s gonna be a 5-8 guy all summer and then next year be a 3-5 guy.
Remember when Tom came over and all the hype was about him and how he was gonna dominate outdoors as a 2 time world champ? I think it was early last year after the first few rounds of outdoors they asked him what the difference was between MXGP and here and he said the speed and intensity was way higher here and he was having trouble getting used to that.
First, no hate for Prado. I actually love watching him ride, as wel as the GPs and the Nationals. Just calling a single performance as I saw it. People who don't get that, or understand a grading curve, probably graduated high school only due to grade inflation.
If you didnt have high expectations of Prado, why such a low grade?
They need to get his bike set up, he needs to learn the tracks and adjust to the race day schedule.
Do you remember when Villopoto went to run the GP series? I thought he was gonna kick some but over there.
I believe he would agree with what I have written.
All good. No banter and it would be a boring sport.
Btw, do you think the golf forums get crazy?
Maybe people don't understand your grading curve because it's solely based on your opinion? How the hell is anyone here suppose to know what your personal expectations were?
Pit Row
I think Prado and Vialle are of very different backgrounds. Prado's performance against the best Americans in motocross has been quite successful. He won his class in 2018 at Red Bud, won the mxon first moro at Ernee and worked everyone in the mxon qualifier at Matterly. Vialle never had that resume. So expectations for Prado are justifiably higher.
Paging Falcon, paging Falcon to this thread for explanation of grading on a curve.
I said mostly this a couple weeks ago. New tracks, new race format, new competition. Travel might factor in too. He will probably spend more time on a plane than he did in Europe.
Thanks for the rational response.
My expectations for Prado were based on his previous mx rides against riders in this field. They were just MY expectations. Didn't expect him to beat Jett, Sexton or Eli. I did expect he'd do better than he did.
It's crazy to me how people react to a simple "this guy underperformed" take. Immediately they start crying about hate. Or they claim "you couldn't do it better." To the second point, let me say, no shit Sherlock. That shouldn't stop us from having an opinion. If a quarterback goes 10 for 27 with 4 interceptions, it's no hate to suggest that he underperformed. And, no, that doesn' mean I think I can play QB in the NFL. Our sport will be a lot better off when people can post their honest take without being accused of hating a rider.
On Prado being first race not bad just getting a feel for things overall. But by race 4 or 5 we get that same type of results yeah he might get a D or F .
I mean he's a 2 time world champion.
Actually a 4 time champ, but fair enough.
Jorge is coming off a injury so he needs time to get back into shape and speed. Lets see what your next weeks report will look like😆
Already forgot what Vialle did at Ernee 2023? 😅
I do think the GP guys slightly underestimate what it takes to run up front in AMA.
Villopoto won his second GP…. And yes, Herlings won his first AMA race.
So it can be done, but don’t expect it.
No but I'm pretty confident no one in Europe puts Prado and Vialle on the same level.
I thought the whole point of the GPs was different country roughly every race?
So, I discount that a bit since he's been here a while, but I also think he finished both motos which was job #1 for the first round. Hard to give him a grade at this point, but it was definitely/significantly higher than a 'D'.
Fair enough...but definitely not higher than a C.
