They can probably pay him what he would want and have a solid bike.

Where’s all this Malcom’s retiring talk coming from? He pons the best he ever has and is coming off his best sx season with a win. I know he’s finished higher in points before but this is the best and most in control I’ve seen him.

Just within this thread. People are guessing what the announcement coming up is going to be.

He’s an ambassador.  Don’t think he’ll be racing.

I can’t say that surprises me. I can’t think of the last time I saw someone at the track wearing Seven.

That's what happens when a set of gear costs $400

I am guessing that SEVEN will be closing down as a gear company. Very tough market to jump into.

Especially high end gear.

Ive seen riders as good as him and better come up with goose eggs for titles before. KDub right off the top of my head.

Damn, Seven gear always looked good imo. James had a good 12 yr run with it if they are indeed closing up shop. He brought that athletic tight stuff in first I believe and made a lot of gear companies change how they made gear.

Too bad we had to wait until 2025 to see Musquin (retired rider now...) with a "real" cool helmet (TLD rules!) on his head (he was linked to Airoh since 2010!).

Plenty of other brands are charging around the same prices and have no problem selling. Any type of MX gear head to toe seems like such a hard market to break into as a new company. I see so many companies start up out of no where just to disappear within 6-12 months. Very few come to mind that have been able to insert themselves at a legitimate level that have come on the market in the last 10 years or so. Fasthouse, FXR, and Alias (RIP) are the most successful “newer” companies I can think of. It’s gotta be so daunting to go up against brands like TLD, Fox, Alpinestars etc.

I was a young teenager when Seven first came on the market and I specifically remember every other kid my age having the Seven Camo set or the Purple/Blue set that came out around the same time, even cooler if you got the Bell helmet that matched. They had a good presence at a lot of stuff around here up until 2018 or so.

Seven just became the title sponsor for the Hangtown national so I doubt they are going out of business

The only thing is I never see 7even gear at my local tracks.

Ay me too. Reminds me growing up watching Hodges bust it out on Instagram.

I wonder if Malcom was ever getting paid to run Seven? Maybe Malcom’s trying to get the most money out of everything while he can?

Alex Martin, Davalos, Hampshire, Smith, McAdoo, Forkner, ...

The list goes on.

Not many 450 rides are available, and he's yet to win a championship. There's more money to be made running at the front of the pack in the 250 class than being on a B-level 450 team.

His first SX race was 3 years ago. When do you think Shimoda should move up? He started racing SX 5 years ago. If you haven't noticed yet, there's no reason for guys to move up until they have to now.

That TLD helmet is going to feel like an anchor on top of his head, after wearing an Airoh for so long !
