Bummed to hear that the Cycle News print addition has died.
My copy of Cycle New always arrived in the mail box on Thursday and I couldn't wait to read it. I'll admit, and I bet I'm not alone, the first thing I did was scan the photos to see if I could find myself. Finally, one day, YES!
1980 CMC Golden State at "McGills", although it might have been called Prairie City by then?
Tony Wanket #1 (Pete Wanket?), Ron Turner and me #445, I used to know the guy on #170 but I can't remember his name right now?
Anyway, Cycle News RIP, sniff, sniff. (sad face thingy goes here)

But my picture was on the cover, November 27, 1996: Number 47
The title "Elsinore Grand Prix returns - so do thousands of riders"
Yep, that's me on the starting line! middle-right of the picture, AXO helmet and purple O'Neal apparel, "94" CR 500. SLICK!

Phil Oveland was fast. You Mr. Numbers TG?....lol. Nice job remembering.
McGills changed to PC maybe in '78; but wanna say Jan 1, 1979 since that green sticker initiative passed Nov. '78, but think Roy McGill had already sold it to the State in '78; was still McGills in '77 for sure.
Lot of local race articles, results only section, following our GP riders when the GPs were still a big deal, the Nats and our guys, Latest Poop by Papa Wealey; CN just was a good source of everything motorcycle racing.
The pic above is one way I'd like to remember the once great CN. Bummer local MX is not big and probably will never be like these days ever again.
Bummer.
Oveland's name was fresh on my mind, it popped up on Racer X a few weeks ago - he won their weekly contest and won a prize of some sort.
I'm sorry to see CN fold up as well, been a subscriber for a long time.
