It is within the rules to use team tactics

It's also within poor taste to do what the PC team did. It's too bad that our sport does not have rules in place to prevent this type of thing. I know when a guy has to use that excuse, the excuse that it breaks no rules, that he knows it is wrong and is trying to justify it. Personally, I would not want a title won by team tactics brought on because the other guy sliced into my points lead.

it's the riders job, if you want to think its dirty, thats your problem.
So I am guessing that you thought Supercross The Movie was awesome.

It's actually not my problem, it's Trey's problem which is precisely my point. The riders job is to ride, finish as close to first as possible, and represent his or her sponsors. But I'm sure that if Barcia boots Pourcel to the cheap seats, you will have no problems with that since it's his "job". He would, after all, be helping his teammate.

nope it was terrible, but im not going to whine about a rider doing his job. If you want to think its an individual sport, feel free, but youre wrong.

Still am a little. But, I am disappointed that he just moved over and let CP go like that.

Awesome race though. Pala could be EPIC.
Yup, it is a team sport in regards to the Rider, Mechanic, manager, driver and such all working together. But it is not a team sport in regards to the other riders on the track. On the track it is every man for himself.

And finaly, the last thing I will say to you about this is:

If it were a team sport, on the track, then there would be requirements for the number of team mates that must be on the track in order to participate. Since One guy can enter and compete all by his lonesome, then by definition, it is not a team sport.

Unfortunately, it seems Pourcel's teammates are more consistenly toward the front. Best scenario would be for Barcia be out front. You know he would love to be the reason Pourcel doesn't win it.

How long have you been around this sport. These things have been going on since the beginning of motocross. Do really think Wilson letting CP by affectted the race at all. CP even said after the race he could not pass Canard. He tried everything. You could tell Wilson was gassed after two get offs in the first moto and riding injured. Wilson did not put up to much of fight with Canard either.

Ha ive been thinking about this photo the last couple of weeks while watching the 250s.
Just finished watching the race...was thinking of this pic during the 250 moto's...Thanks Scottie. IMO...Dean did the right thing. He's not in the title hunt and every point counts. I was wondering if these mech have a special signal to they're riders now to make them aware of the points situation? After all, the Let Brock Bye pic will forever go down in Motocross history!!

There is nothing wrong with pulling over, but if you are going to pull over so as to not get in the way, pull over for BOTH riders. None of the PC guys (or Nico Izzi) did that, they gave Canard fits, and let Pourcel by.

Who was the rider a few years ago that was being lapped in a SX race, and played team tactics with Stewart and Reed? That kid got so much flack for that (and it wasn't because he was being lapped, it was his interference), but if we take what some of you are saying, it was just fair play and team tactics.

Here's my .02...Letting a team mate who's in title contention around you is the RIGHT thing to do. Riding a wide bike in front of your team mates competition is the RIGHT thing to do....trying to wreck him is WRONG. If you are a privateer...things get a little muddier. Bottom line (just my opinion)...if you're faster than him then beat him...if you ain't then let him get on with his race. Peace.

It is entirely different because he was being lapped, that was the issue.

If Mitch tells you to move the fuck over, you move the fuck over. He is after all signing the paychecks and PC's business is to add #1 plates to the door of the PC rig.

And this is exactly why it is wrong. What about the guys with no team mates? Are they just screwed? The rules should be tailored to ensure that team tactics are not used on the track in order to preserve the sense of fair play between the big teams and the lone rider teams.

Dungey did just fine all by himself last year vs Mitch's team.

I see no problem with team tactics as far as letting someone pass goes. The only time I have an issue is when someone from the team goes out of their way to put someone on the ground or gets in the way while being lapped (ala Chisolm 2009).

bringing Chisolm into this topic just proves that you have no fucking clue as to what you are talking about. chisolm was being lapped. he tried to wreck reed. wilson was in the lead and getting passed, he didn't pull over and wave them on but he didn't block them for 3 laps either. stfu.

Why is bringing Chisolm into a topic about team tactics wrong? I like Kyle and think he's performed awesome this year but he is kind of the poster boy for team tactics still.. IMO at least.

because their "tactics" were totally different... that should be clear by now.

one was getting lapped, the other was getting passed.

the thing about wilson is he didn't really put up a fight for canard either, he knew he was getting reeled in and passed and he acted properly about it. he let them both by pretty effortlessly

X2

This is a team sport to a certain extent. Teamates will always help each other and the team. Shit, even if you were a privateer riding a Honda and pitted out of the back of your truck, you would get help from Factory Honda. As long as the guy you are in the battle with isnt a member of Factory Honda, they would instruct thier riders to move for you or let up and let you go. They would just want a Honda with the title. Just like without a doubt Wil Hahn would let Canard by without giving him any trouble. Its all about championships.

Agreed, as bad as what Alessi did was, people never seem to remember that he was racing 3 people that day, not just one. They were all over him with team tactics that made it more difficult for him. He was an idiot that day, but he was pressured into being an idiot by the PC crew and their Tactics.

Team or no team........usually this late in the season....if you aint got a chance in hell of winning the title.......get the hell out of the way and let the guys battling for the championship race!

Still a big fan of Dean...........how could you not be? Kid is cool as hell and fun to watch ride!
I agree with ya on all the above jeffro.......

PC should be called for their blatant team tactics. The PC guys all said in their interviews (showed during the second moto) that they would help their teammate, Pourcel. All the Honda guys said they were going to race their race. Not surprisingly, that's exactly the way it played out during the race; the PC guys (and one non PC guy) helped Pourcel and did everything they could to stop Canard while Eli Tomac did not let Canard by so easily.

It's one thing to pull over and let BOTH guys go and fight it out, it's downright dirty and poor sportsmanship to hold up one a guy (Canard in this case) and then let the other guy go (Pourcel). Hopefully, Barcia senses the injustice and has something to say next week and makes the playground a fairer place to play.
Hey welcome to the world of posting in English!

Whether you are against team tactics or not, remember who signs the paychecks.

If you recall, JMBayle in about 91 said to Dave Arnold that he would NOT pull over for his teammate... so they parked his bike and told him not to show up!
