If it were a team sport, on the track, then there would be requirements for the number of team mates that must be on the track in order to participate. Since One guy can enter and compete all by his lonesome, then by definition, it is not a team sport.
Who was the rider a few years ago that was being lapped in a SX race, and played team tactics with Stewart and Reed? That kid got so much flack for that (and it wasn't because he was being lapped, it was his interference), but if we take what some of you are saying, it was just fair play and team tactics.
I see no problem with team tactics as far as letting someone pass goes. The only time I have an issue is when someone from the team goes out of their way to put someone on the ground or gets in the way while being lapped (ala Chisolm 2009).
Pit Row
one was getting lapped, the other was getting passed.
the thing about wilson is he didn't really put up a fight for canard either, he knew he was getting reeled in and passed and he acted properly about it. he let them both by pretty effortlessly
This is a team sport to a certain extent. Teamates will always help each other and the team. Shit, even if you were a privateer riding a Honda and pitted out of the back of your truck, you would get help from Factory Honda. As long as the guy you are in the battle with isnt a member of Factory Honda, they would instruct thier riders to move for you or let up and let you go. They would just want a Honda with the title. Just like without a doubt Wil Hahn would let Canard by without giving him any trouble. Its all about championships.
Whether you are against team tactics or not, remember who signs the paychecks.
If you recall, JMBayle in about 91 said to Dave Arnold that he would NOT pull over for his teammate... so they parked his bike and told him not to show up!
