Cole's line selection made that an absolute brilliant ride.  It almost seemed like everyone else was racing the same line, and Cole had another line around the whole track, making passes Ricky Bobby style.  I don't know if Deegan picked up on that toward the end or if Cole was just managing the race, but Cole seems to be a really smart racer.  That was a stacked 250 race, and he came from mid-pack with the best guys, he could not have done better - great job Cole.

That whiskey throttle could have ended BADLY for him and Hammaker. He deserves the title but damn has he had a lot of luck this year. So many serious crashes yet somehow his results are still super consistent.

I would assume, that growing up in NZ, he would have had a lot more MX experience than SX.

Not that I have any info, but I hope he is a force to be reckoned with this outdoor season.

A few weeks ago, I was thinking you guys all needed to pump the brakes on Davies, but now I'm on the bandwagon. The kid is legit, and if he keeps improving it will be a long season for everyone else on a 250F.

He rides sketchy but has some kind of ability that allows him to ride out of mistakes that would have put others on the ground. Not sure if it’s just strength or what but whatever he does to save himself definitely takes skill.

Not that anyone cares but this was me during practice at A1. The kid had unbelievable style and was hauling serious ass. As usual, the tv doesn’t do it justice

It's very familiar to RC and his first sx title in 01.  Many a times he straight muscled out of situations that would put others on the ground.

He's a little tank. He sure looks strong. Everyone says Chase is jacked. But pound for pound Deegan has more muscle than Chase. You see videos of him in the gym and he's getting after it. Deadlifts with a trap bar, real lifting. Sure seems like it makes him and Chase durable, too

Deadlifts with a trap bar are not real lifting. The trap bar is a more athletic motion but the barbell is where everyone is judged deadlift wise. You can lift 60-100lbs more with a trap bar vs a barbell and grip isn't as much as a factor also the lift is starting at a higher point vs a barbell. Its closer to a leg press. Not saying he doesn't workout hard just saying a trap bar is the easy way. I don't think any of these riders are what one would call jacked but if deegan cut down to chases body fat chase would still have a good bit more muscle mass.

If you seriously think that, then I'm not sure what you've seen from Chase because he is a proper unit. Deegan is NOT bigger than Chase.

Yes, both are jacked, but haiden is only 19, can you imagine what he will look like when he’s the same age as chase is now?

He will still be on a 5'7 frame. Thats even small in the bodybuilding world where you can't be very tall to compete for the Olympia or the Arnold. He may look more jacked to people just because he's short but if they were the same body fat  chase would have more muscle mass. Its hard for a tall guy to look what you call jacked.

Very interesting, thanks for explaining.

CFD is on a roll and only 17 back. If Deegan has another wierdo race this thing gets interesting. I would not be surprised at all if Cole wins out.

What is a weirdo race to you? Haiden is still getting on the podium, and extended his points lead.

It's actually impressive how consistent his main event results are considering the amount of mistakes he has made. Most of them have been in heats and practice though.
That practice faceplant would have probably lead to a snapped wrist or collarbone for 70% of riders. And his whiskey throttle in the main could have very easily ended his and Hammakers main. Imagine DNF for both red plate holders in the same race.

I don't think he'll throw this away. West is too weak. He can ride at 70% and still get 3rd. And Davies has to win 4 in a row to even have a chance. Not likely either.

I completely agree, especially with him being this consistent with the starts that he gets. He is one tough kid(yes I know hes 19), I can't imagine what would have happened to him and hammaker if he didn't slam on the brakes right after whatever he did after the whoops. He won't throw it away, there's only two races left on west, one west race, and one east west, he will get this title. SMXMuse had a thing on his IG story that said he could wrap it up in denver. I wonder if he wins denver, or even salt lake. I also wonder what the heck happened to juju. Even if he isn't winning, he is still gaining points, he's becoming a smarter racer as well, he could have easily sent it to catch up and pass cole, but he didn't.

I keep thinking Davie's reminds me of Fonseca. Just a super solid technical rider, who's skillset really shines in SX. I don't expect him to have as strong a showing outdoors though, especially at this point in his career anyway. Not to mention, regardless of how one feels about Haiden, he is an absolute beast outdoors now. He reminds me a lot of RC, but not as well rounded. His athleticism, mixed with a huge amount of confidence I think, has allowed him to pull off some sketchy moments that few could get away with, sorta like RC.

Seeing it live, Deegan did try to catch him but couldn't. Davies lines and outright speed were better. He was going significantly faster into the whoops than everyone else, even the majority of the 450 riders. The guy is the truth.

Coles whoop speed, and technique is crazy, also, how does he stay perfectly straight in the gnarliest whoops most the time.

Bloody impressive for a rookie year. He’s going to be unbeatable indoors for the next few years if he continues on this trajectory. Anything can and will happen in this sport though.

I feel the same way. Haiden wasn't the most impressive in sx last year either. But mx rolled around and he's an absolute unit. I expect him to crush these guys this summer. Hopefully we see some progression from Hymas. Haiden is something special when it comes to outdoors
