You ought to go ask to test ride it and ride off in the distance.

I've been on Kawi's the last few years and have been very happy, but blue is calling my name.

I spent a while reading this thread, learned a lot. Thanks.

So after 2 rides with the flywheel weight and the addition of the g2 tamer throttle tube this bike is awesome.

I have the flywheel weight on mine also. I rode it last Sunday and it smoothed it out a little but I would like to get it a little more tame. I was thinking about the G2 throttle tube also. Did it help quite a bit?

Have you guys interested in taming this bike just tried 1-2 teeth up on the counter sprocket?

This worked WONDERS on my various 450s over the years, especially before the Manufacturers started taming them.

Cheap food for thought that only improves handling (calmer chassis).

Some slack in the throttle cables is important, too, IMHO.

Lastly, I also spent a lot of time testing Steahly weighted flywheels on CRF450Rs a while back and I was sensitive to the handling changes (+/- 1 oz is A LOT when you're a revver) - so I went another route: Rekluse RadiusCX - and never looked back, so many benefits and no downsides relative to what I like in handling.

For me it was the last piece of the puzzle. Everything seems to work together well but I think this helped me the most. And the throttle pull is like butter

Thats good to hear.   I just ordered one.   Installing the flywheel tonight.   I had big hopes that would really calm it down but doesnt sound like its enough.     I am running a vortex from XPR and have it on there smooth linear map and small throttle inputs are still way to jerky.   I have to cover the clutch coming out of corners to much trying to keep the front end down.  Coming off a 21 kawi its really hard to be smooth on this thing.

Really curious how the Twisted mapping compares to XPR.

Why not go look at it then steal it back during the test ride?

What's he going to do? Call the cops.

The flywheel helps too, I don’t even use the clutch now bc of it lol. The throttle tube was just the cherry on top

Try adding fuel to low and mid. Like 7 low and 6 mid.   On the twisted I’ve gone all the way to 8 low and 7 mid.

Depends on temp, elevation but it can help smooth out the feel roll on

Was hoping you would post up lol....

I have been running it on all 6's mainly because I have been riding anywhere from 40*-55*.

I will bump it up to 7 on the low and mid and leave it at 6 on the hi and see how it does.

Couple more thoughts added that may be helpful in taming 450Fs in general.

I think each click is only a few % so try 8 also on the low.  It will start feeling heavy or too rich/sloppy when you have gone too far. But these bikes inject so much air I think it’s hard to get too rich

I am at 8 7 7 now.   Flywheel weight is in.    A quick trip around the yard and it's way less responsive on the bottom.  May need to go to 7 but will try tomorrow.

I’ve ruined the throttle cable on my 24 YZ 450F. Does anybody know if the aftermarket cables for the 19-22 model Will fit the new bikes? I don’t want to buy an OEM cable.

Looking at Motion Pro, 2022 is part number 05-0426 and 2024 is part number 05-0437.  Something changed.

Hey so I’ve had a few days on the REP linkage set up on my 23 and I think it’s very impressive!  The stock 23 linkage I felt squatted a lot under acceleration so I was going very stiff on rear shock damping to hold it up,  but then that felt harsh in other areas.  The REP link holds up the bike better so I can soften shock compression.  I’m less reliant on stiff shock damping and letting the leverage do some of the work. I’m on stock 23 spring and running 106 sag.  I had to loosen the spring a few turns to get to the right sag and maybe 2-3 clicks softer on compression.

I was worried the leverage was going to ramp up too much but I think its giving just enough bottom out support before becoming harsh. Very impressed!

Probably somewhere in these 82 pages but have you done anything to improve planted and steering feel of your YZ 450?

Nice write up!  Very similar to my experience.

I installed REP linkage on my ‘23 and went for my 1st ride on Friday.

Reset the sag back to 105mm and left all other settings the same.  Sag was at ~100mm after installed and before adjusting spring.

Bike rode great and had better hold up.  Could likely go a little softer in the rear but 1st time out for the season figured I would leave it.

Overall a very easy to adapt to part and does what it intends to do!

I did the longer offset Luxon clamps and it does help. Also offers slight lean angle comfort. I add the bar mounts and risers. But from reading between the lines, I think the FCP cups will be a bigger change in strictly the stability category and keep the stock clamps.

If you don’t have those parts, try forks flush and 107-108 sag but then you are going to give up some turn in and rear end feeling low.

Hey guys, I was wondering what spring rates and oil volume you are running in the front. I'm currently using 5.0/5.2 split.  I thought I had a softer spring in there, but just pulled both apart.  I'm 175lb.

Also say Luxon came out with rubber mounted engine mounts!  Definitely want to try these.

195lbs stock springs and 270ml oil (also stock amount).

Was debating dropping a 0.53 spring in one side but not sure I need it.

I just put both stock 5.0 springs back and 280-285cc and I’ll see if this helps or hurts what I’m feeling.  Only one way to know right…
