WHY isn’t Fentanyl a National Emergency when SO MANY ARE DYING?!”

I didn’t want to derail the domestic terrorist/Tesla thread discussing this so, Team Green suggested starting a thread.

I work in Seattle and, in recent months have seen several overdose, have friends who’ve lost loved ones and, had a neighbor lose his son to fentanyl.

Using Team Greens exact words in the title, WHY isn’t Fentanyl a National Emergency when SO MANY ARE DYING?!”

I refuse to spend any time outside of work in Seattle. It’s a cesspool. I’m at work atm but, just wanted to get this thread started.

Though I switched job sites after an electrician stepped on a needle,  I’m still in Seattle.

So…. Here’s a pic from ten minutes ago in another area of Seattle. Junkies aren’t chasing heroin anymore.

Overall, people in here seem to be more worried about trans people.  Last time I was in Portland, OR there were some really really gnarly areas that have gotten worse as well.  It's terrible to see. The "war on drugs" is a frustrating topic.

Please be careful with you party drugs- no matter the source or flavor (powder, pressed, etc. even leaf)- shared scales can be bad if not deadly.

Buy a test kit or look for the tent at festivals.

It's sad what has become of Portland and Seattle. The progressives have ruined it for everyone.  The Northwest used to be live and let be,less gov more fun until the NorCal progressives started taking it over in the late 80's & 1990's.   I've got stories for days about both places - especially terrorizing PDX lol.. I even got kicked out of the Washington Park Zoo in Portland once when I was in my teens. Just for bringing /using a predator call and  and getting the animals in a frenzy. Frigging libtards were flipping out. lol

I thought this was one of the things trump campaigned on?

wasn’t he using the threat of tariffs on CA and MX as leverage to try and force them to be stricter in letting fentanyl across the border.

What do think Trump can wave a magic wand and make it disappear?

We've got tons of it here already state side.  It will take years before it trickles out of society and shit hole ran dem cities like Seattle will be the last to recover from it.

I was just bringing up that I think it is of concern and I think there are things being done to try and help get it out of the country.

Like you said it won’t happen overnight.

FBI got a big fish from MS13 east coast operation this morning.  It can’t happen fast enough but at least this administration is doing something about it.

I’m so confused

On one hand we have illegals who no matter what their story is, they came here illegally and should be exported (because they broke the law)

On the other hand, we have people buying illegal drugs, and dying from them because it contains drugs they were not aware of. Or they thought they were taking their buddies prescription medicine, and it wasn’t what they thought it was (also illegal)

They did something illegal, I thought our stance was they are criminals?

I understand there is a very minuscule amount of people who have died from fentanyl while doing nothing illegal, but they are an extreme minority

Ummmm yeah man, nobody is saying that we should just kill off the illegal immigrants.  We just want them shipped back to the shitholes they came here so they don't ruin America.

Might wanna try to draw a different correlation.

Its grown too large of a problem to just slap some "simple fix" on now. Without law makers, judges, and prosecutors all on the same page - it'll never get fixed. I honestly think a lot of the people you see "zombie'd" on the street are too far gone to reel their addiction back in, and flat out dont want help to turn it around. Lawmakers who created "safe spaces" for drug abusers hold a shit-load of accountability for allowing it to get as bad as it has. This will get the down votes pouring in - but I wouldnt mind seeing dealers get life in prison, or even the death penalty. Making BULLSHIT excuses for the last 20+ years about "not enough space in prisons" has not helped anything. I pay taxes out the ass, now MY government needs to put my tax dollars to work getting the drugs and drug addicts off the streets.

Young people can't even do cocaine anymore. It's too risky.

I never have seen the zombies here in Florida but when I went to New Orleans there was a couple in the middle of the street hunched over and all the locals acted like just another day. Here the cops would probably run them over and then back over them again. If you saw a bum here they are in the back of a cop car pretty quick. They don't put up with litter around here and they made it illegal to stand near a road for too long after a few panhandlers showed up once. They ended that real quick.  The police here are super corrupt and mean as it gets. The whole force got busted with steroids when I was in high-school. Every cop looked like Mr Universe. So did our football team.  Lots of shrimp boats used to bring in tons of weed, coke, extacy and roids but not much else around then but now I wouldn't know as I'm in my own world and spend more time at the farm in the middle of no where.

There is a mobile trailer sharing the same parking lot I parked my van in across from the previous job site. Safe place to shoot up. Should be illegal.

A couple weeks ago, there was a guy laying in the alley where the entrance to the job site was.
He had his pants around his ankles, laying in the rain screaming for help, covered in his own shit. Obvious withdrawals.

But you want their action to have a consequence

Enter illegally, be deported, they know the risk

Do drugs, you might die, you know the risk

I don’t understand the soft spot we have for drug users, but no other criminals

*edit

Where is the concern for drunk drivers? Where is the concern from thieves being killed, understood it’s much lower numbers (especially the second one), but criminals die doing crimes

Yeah they treat it like it was a disease they caught.   I'm a firm believer every addict has made their own conditions.

I think one reason is just that it's really hard to beat addition and takes money. I think another is that it's really difficult to balance force-fixing someone with their constitutional freedoms. I also think that if you truly did what's needed, like forced rehab for everyone that needs it, take cars away from people that legitimately have no business driving, took guns away from everyone that truly had no business owning them, took kids away from people that had no business being parents, that you'd be looking at messing with well over 25% of the country and they'd burn this place to the ground.

I agree 100%.  Fuck it. Some know, some don’t. I have zero sympathy when it comes to addiction.

This coming 4th of July is my 28 year mark being clean (Got mixed up with meth right out of high school)
I made a choice to try something new. I also made a choice to clean up, move out of state, get a career and, never once looked back.

On the flip side, I have a really hard time seeing kids with parents who are addicts.

Glenn Younkin said today that, he'd been telling the previous administration about this guy, and his whereabouts for three years.

Not all addicts are criminals. I had a journeyman years ago who was a functioning drug addict. He did heroin at night and, meth during the day. He was one of the best foremen I’ve ever had. He went to work, did his job very well but, his addiction really had its hooks in him. His only crime was his addiction.

Florida has to keep the place clean to support the vital tourism Industry, without it, Florida suffers.
