So people are bitching because the TV folks were able to actually sell advertising to major corporations that could in time help fund rider payouts,attract more outside sponsors which in turn could fund more teams? Hey wouldn't that be a shame if all the privateers could actually get paid to ride and not get more than $200 for last place.

Common folks..WTF up and realize that live TV,any TV, is better than nothing. This is the second year of live national broadcasts. Do you really think Lucas Oil is gonna continue to keep paying for ad space for an entire series? Look at last years ads and realize that this year is a progression. Today MX was up against the PGA championship,MLB, NASCAR and pre season football. That is some pretty big competition but you were able to sit in your air conditioned home, walk to the fridge and go about your day an hour after knowing what happened. If your that intent on seeing "all" the racing you should have ponied up the money and gone to the race. Even then..do you see the whole track?

Seriously, some people would bitch about taxes if they won the lottery....

Sorry, but I think its great to see live racing on NBC... Come on, how can you guys bitch about that? If you would have told me 10 years ago we would have live moto, in HD on a major broadcast station, I would have flipped... and so would all you guys bitchin' about it now.

Now, there are things they can work on... what bothered me was them not really showing anyone other than the top 3. I don't think I saw Alessi once. Did they show bubba at all before he pulled off in the moto?

I think the Moto GP broadcasts do better at showing the battles on the track even if they are back in the pack.

Things to complain about? sure. But to really bitch about? no way.

Sorry but the coverage sucked. I'm grateful to have it on the air live but to say there is not a bunch of room for improvment is burying your head in the sand. Surfercross, you've got to be kidding. Show the damn race. That's what people tune in for. Yes, even the casual fan wants to see the race. Believe me, people tune in to watch the race. Without the race it's just an infomercial. Show the race. The race. The race. Really, it's about the race. In a 1hr. program if they can't show the whole 30min. race something is wrong. 1/2hr. out of 1hr. isn't too much to ask. That leaves a whole 1/2hr. for commericals. Not enough? Show the damn race.

Couldnt have said it better myself! Watched the 250's on Speed yesterday and guess what? THEY SHOWED THE RACE! GO SPEED and NBC GO FUCKIN COVER GOLF. Hey Motodave15 my first National was at Gatorback around 73 0r 74"most likely before you were born" with Wienert Karsmaker Lackey and a bunch more names I doubt you have heard of, I saw jeff ward ride the very first XR75 in the country and start the first four stroke comeback I have been to all but four of the current tracks and I will be knocking them out in the next two years so Why dont you STFU!

I was just happy to watch MX LIVE on NETWORK TV and more than once a year (don't forget there was a time when moto was only on Wide World of Sports once a year). It'll get there.

I thought it was excellent all things considered. Network TV, live. Human interest stories are a part of this deal to fill a 1 hour slot and I thought they did a great job of it. The telecast showed our sport in a very positive light. We got to see the essence of the moto and the battle was one of the best all year. Desalle kept it from being a snoozer! Good thing he showed up to race, otherwise that would have been one long hour of TV.

I, like a lot of people in this thread, think LIVE coverage on NBC is awesome. I invited a few non-moto friends over to watch it and they thought it was cool. And yeah, as a core fan I'd love to see all 4 motos live on TV with limited commercials, and maybe someday that will happen, but NBC is trying to target an audience that isn't made up entirely of core fans, like Bobby said. So they show lifestyle pieces and give a little background info on the sport and riders for the people who aren't familiar with the sport.

So this broadcast is a great way of getting MX's foot in the door, so to speak, and get more people watching and maybe some day if ratings are high enough they'll run the first or second motos live.

I watched the live 450 race.. and missed most of it even though i was watching! 10 minutes of racing and 4 commercials plus 3 mx features during the live racing?! absurd!.. I don't know how you guys watch TV over there!

If I was the general public, there is no way I would have been entertained watching the NBC show. As a die hard I kinda watched out of the corner of my eye as I was doing something else like trying to get the livewire to work. That took up most of the moto for me. It amazing how much better the live webcast is than the 2nd moto TV stuff. I honestly don't care if I miss any of the 2nd moto TV stuff anymore. I'm not bending plans to watch again.

Maybe that's my problem. I don't watch TV so when I see the same 4 commercials repeated 4x during a 30 minute race, it gets a little frustrating. The people that watch TV all day are conditioned to it.

When the producers add fluff pieces in the middle of the race, I really get annoyed.

Glad we have a live broadcast and I think things are getting better, but, the way they produced it could use some work IMO.

Too much totally unrelated stuff at the beginning. Then there's the rerun of the 1st moto highlights and showing a lot of fluff during the moto...standing in front of James trailer saying no interview? I guess that was a no win situation...except for Erin in that yellow shirt Smile
