Stewart gets my vote. His 125 rides were just insane fast. He's the last person to even win a championship on a 125. Remember that year in the nationals? There were like 39 250f's and 1 125. I don't think anyone could come close to pulling that now. Could you imagine Justin Barcia reaming on a 125! It would sound awsome.

the best 125specialist ever out of nowhere was race tech's mike biere in 83. his yamaha was making top 5's all tr behind wardy and o'show. that guy raced hard all year and was always making pods or 5's!! don't forget mike biere....or even jim anderson and eric hall...both from washington state.
Actually this was 84 not 83 that Beier was a yamaha support rider finishing 4th in 125 nats.

OMG YES!!... The bad thing about it. Karl burnt out and just quit, and the last I knew about what Karl was doing... He went to work for Honeywell... But that was back in the 80's. Would like to know what he is doing now myself. The whole Jordan family, really good people.

And Todd, when got hurt... sad day for Florida racing. Also the Hempstead's really great people also. Jenny Hempstead was the back bone of District 8 back in the day... She kept Bill West in line. LOL

Don't believe it... 125's take far more intelligence to move fast around a track vice muscling the far-less capable-of-maneuvering 250 or worse - the open bike.

How quickly you all forget, and not even mentioned once: Brian Myerscough.

I only had the privilege of watching Myerscough once... that's when he destroyed the 125's at a Saddleback National. The guy was a style king, he rode much of the track with a finger on the clutch and brake levers (over jumps even), onboard a Works or Factory Suzuki.

IMO, he should have been a multi-champion if not for his illness.

125s were more often the better of the 2(or 3) National classes to watch race outdoors jimo.

No doubt! The 125's were exciting to watch!

I filmed and studied O'Mara on his Works 125 and Works 250 Honda's racing on our local track and he was NEVER able to push, toss-around and play-ride the 250 like he could the 125. Racing a track for low lap times is what I believe many think is great, but when a great 125 guy can take lines and/or invent lines that are impossible to reach or do on a 250 or open bike - the hardcore racers and fans can see this and appreciate this.

Didn't Omara make a comeback on Mitch's PC 125 team in like '03 or something? Matasievich did as well in like '96?

I only know O'Mara tried a comeback and maybe did some crashing, but beyond that I know nothing. I never followed Matasievich.

I heard when David Bailey suffered his injury, that it really got into O'Mara's head. Since this was a very long time ago, I will share... I've been hearing (repeatedly) by folks who were there, O'Mara's parents were alcoholics and use to hit him pretty-good if he did not perform on the track and they did in full view of many others (including other parents). Unfortunately I don't think anyone called the authorities and I think this is why Al Baker took him under his wing. I did hear how one of Johnny's older and bigger friends gave Johnny's dad a whooping when he went after Johnny once.

My hope is that people report abusive-parents.

Speaking of... Tallon Vohland coming back over from Europe and running Ricky's pace for a little while puts him up there in my books.

Branden Jesseman was good too. Stewart kept him from winning a lot of races and championships.

the next yr...when i was 5..i sat on marty smiths knee at the trans ama when marty beat roger at the puyallip race in his box van in front of the fans, i asked marty 10 yrs ago at the us open if he remembered that....he looked at me and said..."you were that lil blond kid on my knee"....i said yeah...he remembered.

a few yrs later at wasougal nat, i was like 11 or 12...was in hanahas box van...deep....and saw every titty he signed...from the perfect angle. wanked for months after,,,lol

then in 85, magoo killed everybody...and i headed back to canada with his full set of gear. danny was so small i wore his hondaline gear to the can int title the next yr....bucked my gear deal....but danny's gear on me was like a forcefield!

i don't knowto this day if i just worked my way in as a hyper kid ...or if rick sheren put the word for me?
Come on Hammerhead clean it up, don't try to turn this site into the pink stink sess pool. Women and children read this stuff.

A friend of mine watched Honda management and/or the obvious... team orders. Magoo on a 125 production Honda had a big lead at a in CMC series race or something and was told to pull over and let O'Mara win, and he did - so to boost O'Mara's confidence going into [not sure the year] Nationals.

I spoke to a Suzuki rider who won a 125 National and was told by Suzuki management they were disappointed in him, they felt he should have pulled over to let the second place Suzuki rider by. All because the 2nd place guy was on a newer bike and the winner was on last years model.

I used to play RC 125 National video (sections) in slo-mo. I think it was his first year he was on his way to winning the National Title - he'd create his own jump over hay bales and clear an entire corner.

I enjoy the individual races more than the race to win the title. So when riders like Tallon and others can match and/or do better than the fastest guys on a certain race day... I dig this. I just want to see dicing or fierce battles as much as possible.

I feel sorry for most of the guys who have to race Stewart. I just think his gift for racing is greater than most.

I enjoy and respect RC much, but does anyone remember when he was cocky and rode dirty at Nationals (and/or SX)? David Bailey would comment of it on t.v..

Yeah, I remember when Ricky was a cocky prick. I didn't like him at all! Once he matured, I became a HUGE fan!

I saw an ancient pic of Johnny racing the 100cc class at Hopetown... He has always had that hunched over/curved back riding style.
