Is Webb clearly the best this year?

3/2/2025 3:40pm

Webb made up a lot of time on Roczen at the end of the race. He was going for the win, and I think he would have gotten  it if he hadn't  bobbled.

We have a year where the fastest rider isn't the best rider and may not be champion.

Webb was indeed setting himself up for a Daytona win.

A few mistakes derailed that.

At that point he realized that bringing it home on 2nd place, secured the red plate.

Smart man.

Very smart man.

It's all about the title.

You're not going to see him sitting there with his head hanging low, on the side of the track after the race, because week after week he keeps taking himself out of the game.

Imagine if the championship comes down to just 3 points in the end and the reason Webb didn't get them is because Kenny passed him and won Daytona

Webb prob won't be off the podium very much, and absolutely has more wins. Ken is 16 down

Yep, after the 2nd stall he realized time was going to run out on him and he switched to “big picture” racing.

Always a chance, but imagine if Webb tries, crashes and loses 10 points...he's way smarter than his rivals

Clearly the best, not after last weekends performance, he made a mistake when Kenny had him under pressure.

Or was he smart and took the 2nd thinking about the big picture? Someone else may have kept pushing and crashed. He was almost certainly gonna pass Kenny if he didn't cross rut. Regardless great ride by Kenny.

Webb has just stayed where he’s always been. Everyone else has been self destructing.

He did push hard @ Daytona.     I'm still waiting to see the lap times breakdown for Daytona main.    Coop was laying em down.      I know he wanted the win....but he was smart enough to back it down after a couple mistakes .

Coop is the master of the big picture, that's for sure.        He's now 10 points up....wasn't he down 10 points or more several weeks back.

Train keeps a rollin....

I think Roczen could have turned it up. Ken didn't do mistakes but still handled 1.20s. That tells me he had some more in the tank. Webb did mistakes pushing it with 1.20 after halfway point.

To bad, would have loved to see the racing!

Honestly sexton has him covered in the speed department, just not yet in the mistake department. If sexton rides mistake free its over. I will regret this take

I think Webb has the best racecraft and overall package out of everyone that’s left. Too many variables week in and week out to just flat out claim his the best. We all know the saying in racing. Only as good as your last race and to answer this question.. atm the best is Kenny Roczen.

Yep Webb said himself that he was pushing hard to catch Roczen, but made mistakes (more than one) trying to hold that pace. Meanwhile Kenny was just staying focused and logging laps. And don’t forget he passed Webb, Ando and AP to get in front.
He was straight up better at Daytona, but who knows what happens next weekend.

Well, I’m going to put Sexton 4th in fantasy this week, behind Webb, Roczen and JCoop…. So you know that means he’ll holeshot and lead wire to wire.

Then I’ll go back to putting Sexton at the top and Webb will do his thing…

Webb dominated the main in Indy. How many wins does he get this year? My guess is he gets 3 of the last 8 and ends with 6 wins on the year.

Sure looking good to be a 3x sx champ. Pretty rarified air. Has there ever been a rider this good at sx and mediocre at mx. Yeah, yeah, his 250 title. I'm talking the big boy class. I know he's a top 5 guy in mx and that's hardly mediocre. But when he's a sx champ with close to 30 wins, I believe, but gets yarded by a minute in mx it is mediocre

He's the other obvious answer. But he did win an mx title in the premier class in dominant fashion. Really should have been two.

When Jett and Eli got injured i thought we had a genuine battle between Webb and Chase for this year. Roczen potentially part of it but unlikely.

But a few rounds later Chase has been just awful. He looks the fastest or best chance at winning all day. Then the main hits and he can be the fastest most of it but finds a way to lose or his forward momentum disappears the second he gets near Webb,

Webb is most definitely the best this year. Its not even close anymore.

Yeah, it took him a bit to get the hang of the Nats.

I think RC was actually better at MX than SX.

Jett is only one guy that really flipped the script for me. Eli definitely showed he could have his old school elite speed on certain nights. But I wasn't sold on him being consistent enough to win the title. His starts were abysmal this year. If he hadn't got injured, I still don't think he's beating this version of Webb

It is quite strange. He’s got his 250 mx title. His only 450 win was a very slick but not quite a mudder Millville in 19. 1 1 there for his 2 total moto wins in 450. He’s going to have more premier class supercross titles than outdoor moto wins in his career. I can’t see him ever winning another moto
