Love DB’s content and he’s a fantastic  announcer but what the hell did he hope to accomplish? It’s undoubtedly hurting the sport and he sure as hell didn’t do it for the fans since he guaranteed he will never get another gig in Supercross with Feld.

Why is everyone is taking his word as gospel since 95% of us never met any of these guys. No wonder so many pro athletes like Eli want nothing to do with fans. The hate on RC is unbelievable and yes I saw the Arlington footage when it first aired in 2023. Thought it was a dickhead move at the time but figured there was a backstory to it between them.

I know it’s an unpopular opinion but I listened to his video twice and it sure seems like the fans pumped DB up too much and he thought he could call the shots at NBC so they parted ways. He alluded to it himself when the boss told him what they wanted and he disagreed. Happens all the time in business. Much ado about nothing.

Valid point. I Didn’t feel like reading 5XX posts that usually go way off the rails after page 2

Are you referring to Ricky, Lee or the nameless NBC exec.? I myself don’t know any of them but I assume you do?

The outside won't take the sport seriously until we take it seriously. Having someone unfit for lawnmower racing announce the sport is a bad look. NBC patronizing ppl is a bad look. F1 got popular with the uninitiated because of the vibe and the scene, not because they explained what the colors on the tires meant ad nauseum. People flock towards exclusivity sophistication and indifference.

i agree,  it was a hell of a rant for a job you quit 18 months ago, and i dont know what the upside is for burning some bridges you may need,

It's the 5th thread....

How long will it be until some specialist starts the 6th?

It’s probably more so, he gets hounded about why he left the broadcast on a daily/weekly basis. Look at how obsessed people are with how ‘bad’ the broadcast is, and most people loved him. So obviously he’s going to get it consistently. Everytime he is a guest on Pulp etc he gets hammered with questions about it.

He’s finally just gone F@ck it, here is the reason, time to move on.

There has been so much speculation about it, especially here. Most of the reasons are found out to be true, so obviously it’s going to get hammered to death. Mirtl just took a giant sigh of relief.

Obviously the guy is still bitter and has yet to move on despite his repeated claims. No it is not helping the fans that I can see.

Not matter who’s right, wrong or in between, a wake up call is never bad for any sport, industry, corporation. Never.

Right. Seems like he said the heck with the broadcasting career. It could also negatively impact him in other pursuits, as well. I don’t seeing anything advantageous form doing that.

I am not an RC fan and have tended to side with Blair. The way RC treated Daniel at the Arlington track walk thing was classless. But having seen Blair's little woe-is-me clip, I'm changing my view on DB....
In racing your performance determines career success. That's not necessarily the case out here in the real world. It's important to recognize and read nuance/politics and respond accordingly. Blair said he was disgusted by the politics....haha....hello....welcome to the real world! When RC calls to tell you you need to kiss Leigh's ass, you better thank RC and then go do that shit. This is like entry-level career know-how.

If haiden Deegan going wwe heel every other race is “good for the sport” then DB calling out the entity everyone kinda hates on should be fine. “Any publicity is good publicity”

Unfortunately this happens constantly in life. A persons dreams are crushed. He is no different than anyone else, his example is just in broadcasting.

I have stayed basically on the sideline of this conversation on Vital except a funny “who cares” comment I made in one of the threads.

But, mainly I haven’t said a word because I agree with you. If Blair’s comments are true, it makes sense. NBC gives through contract to Feld a network package, those folks believe in the people they have in place, but do not believe in DB. From there it is their business to choose who they want to run their show and how they want to run it. It is apparently working well too because their viewers per race were up in 2024 by over 25% per race.

At the end of the day, it is just a business decision, and Blair didn’t make the cut. But it also doesn’t give RC any right to act the way he did on that track walk.

Also, for those relating this as common to their personal life situations. They also don’t (I’m assuming) have tens-hundreds of thousands of people curious about your situation and why you left your job. I’m also assuming you aren’t getting floods of comments on social media, topics on forums discussing it, getting asked everyday/weekend at local races, podcasts you’re on, as to why you made said decision.

I believe this is why it was important to make the video.

Kinda short sighted in the Pulp discussion around this aspect. Steve brings it up constantly when DB is on the show, enough for it to be annoying as a listener. Can only imagine how over it DB is at this point.

And as much as I enjoy JT, he would bend over any place and anytime for the companies he works for. It’s kinda embarrassing to hear him say how he would take the beatings for a life time for his job. Have some self respect man.

I love JT, he is my favourite person to listen to on pulp..

He was the only one that asked real questions during claimgate..

but lately he is painfully neutral and doesn’t rock the boat THE SLIGHTEST..

that’s fine and I get it, but this must be a super awkward position for him right now..

DB’s the best person for the job and didn’t get it due to others insecurities. The best person should have gotten the job. Maybe it does happen all the time in business but this is our hobby. Personally I don’t like the idea of looking back 20 years from now and hearing Ricky’s 30,000 foot view or Leigh’s accent.

Thanks to these threads, I now despise all commentators, DB included.

How is this bad for the sport? Casual fans won’t hear anything about it and regular fans (most of them) already know DB is right.

Anyone still talking about Mirtl?? Wait 2 weeks and this will be gone as well.

He is not the best person for the job, if he was he would have the job. Vital doesn’t pick who the best person is, NBC does. So DB is out, plain and simple.

Indy car viewership is up 45% this year now that leigh diffey got replaced by will Buxton (and fox). Square that circle.

JT is clearly a good analyst and pattern recognizer (finance, geopolitics, moto) and it's sad to hear him equivocate and self-censor so much.

"I'm friends with everybody" yeah dude did you not see Ricky shit all over Blair for no reason? I now understand how he was able to stay friends with Chad Reed for so long, just avoids ALL the battles for an uneasy peace. Vince Friese is a safe person to go after tho

I'll say it. Who tf does Leigh Diffey think he is? Never heard of the clown until this year. And again WHY TF do we need accented announcers in Supercross and Motocross?

There are plenty  of people  at my work who are in positions where someone  better didn’t  get the job.  Politics  and DEI.
